#25326, "Brothers, Cold air on stage 1 turbo kits?"
I think this has been answered before, but i searched, and couldnt find anything, but u know how like on the star and hahn stage 1 kits, which arent intercooled, well stickin out the side of the turbo is an intake and filter correct, it extends about 8 inches from the side of the turbo by the engine bay, well im thinkin, what if i go to a muffler shop, and have them extend that intake pipe, all the way down to my fender, or like the bottom of my car, that will collect cold air right? Do you guys think thats a good idea? Will it improve anything? Will it make my car run smoother when the weathers cold?

In theory it will since the air going in is cooler that way. But in practise your gains will be minimal to non existant. the compressor is very hot and compresses air also rises a lot in temperature. the change in temperature of the compressed air in my opinion cancels out any gains you could have gotten from the cooler air intake.
late.

Yeah I believe brynden has his AEM CAI on his car also with the turbo. I think Jason hooked that up for him. Not sure about the gains tho but i'm gonna try when I get my NER.
