what would you get? (2.5" piping w/o cat)

Apex N1 universal muffler
HKS universal muffler
Matrix universal muffler 5.5" tip(summitracing.com)

Are all straight through mufflers the same(primarily)?

Any straight through muffler will be fine, they are basically all the same, just some have different sounds/tones than others. I have the stock piping and cat, with the SS magnaflow muff, and it sounds pretty good, esp after the turbo install. I was getting annoyed by how loud it was on the highway, but now its perfect. I dont have any info on the brands you listed, never tried/heard them before..performance wise, i'd say they are all the same

Mine was *slightly* raspy at a cold start up, before the turbo, but now after the turbo, its nice and no rasp at all really..

i've got the full n1 and i love it. it's so low though that i scrape it some times, but the way it's angled i only hit the back of the muffler and 2 points on the piping, hell, it works great i could care less about what it looks like undernieth. nobody around me would do 2.5" mandrel bends for anything cheaper than what i could get the n1 for so i went that route. now i need to get rid of my "highflow" cat and put a 3" pipe in, anyone have any ideas? where do you guys get your "cat's" ?

Hey mitseclps, go to horsepowerfreaks.com, they have 2.5 and 3 " test pipes. I think the 2.5 was $55 and the 3.0 was $65. justin
