I have (which I believe) is a 2g SMIC. Are the 1st gens better? I also have a Starion, but I'm flat broke and really can't afford to make the Starion look good. I run about 5lbs now and don't plan to go much higher. Would it be more feasible to work a deal out w/ a yard and pull a 1st gen if I trade the 2nd Gen IC in??? I thought that the 2nd gens flow better, but the 1st gens are just plain bigger. I can get pipe cheap so I'm not too worried about that.

I am not real sure about which one is better out of the 1g or 2g side mounts. I have heard people say that the 1g ones are better, but I can't really say for sure. Before I worked out a deal w/ a junkyard, I would sell the one you have on ebay and then buy a 1g on there or somewhere else like the dsm trader. I had a 2g side mount once and I sold it on ebay. I got like $70 out of it. I believe that most people use the 1g ones because it is a little easier to run the piping for them. Well, i hope I helped you out a little bit. justin

Get a 1G sidemount. Their core is about twice as thick as a 2G sidemount. More cooling capacity. If you compare the HRC and 1G sidemount, they are 'almost' identical.

Yeah, i just mounted my 1g side mount ic, and it fits ok, but you do need to do some cutting under the fuse box, and some playing around with the positioning of it. I'll be letting everyone know how it works out when i get the piping installed this week, hopefully within the next few days...I have heard the 1g side mounts are VERY efficient from many sources now..The 1g side mounts are plentiful on Ebay, i looked the other day and found like 10 of em..50-70 bucks

Well I think I'm off to the junkyard tomorrow (not intended for the IC but I'll look into it) Is there any difference on the butt-dyno between Non-IC 5lbs and IC 5 lbs? Oh yeah I have a 2g SMIC for sale for about $70 hehehe. I might throw that bad boy on there if the junkyards don't want it or somebody here will give me some dough for it.

Well i would have to say going from 5 psi non-IC to 5 psi intercooled would give a gain from 10-15 HP I would think. Thats just a good guess anyway...If you think about it, the air going into the motor is VERY hot. The intercooler will cool down the air considerably, and cooler air is more power as we all know by now

Went to the yard today, and got one with a few bent fins in the front but perfect in the back for 15 bucks. I'm gonna sell my starion and everything else and get this hooked up. I should have it done this weekend I'll take pics if somebody wants to host them.
