Here is the deal.
I basically run my car in two settings. 8 psi and 10 psi
8 psi my egt at 7000 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear hits 1550. At 10 psi at max rpm it hits 1600(93 pump gas....not all the same, find which gas gives you lower egt with a given amount of boost). The days are in the high 80's. When my boost is rolling through 5 psi, my egt is roughly 1450 at around 5000 rpm. When driving normally, my egt never gets over 1500 degrees even if I have a short burst of acceleration in 4th gear while passing. The above max rpm readings were during street racing and test runs to keep track of what my car is doing. Even when I autoX, my egt never exceeds 1500 in 2nd gear. I rarely have to use 3rd due to the tight courses we run locally.
I can get my egt to go to 1500 while still in vacume at high rpm. I just never load the turbo. When I start to load the turbo and build boost even 0 psi, the egt drops imediately to 1400 because of the rise in fuel pressure. My guess is the car is used to running at 1500 egt and it is still rich normally aspirated. 1600 should not be a problem, I really think 1550 is a great egt to shoot for. It will vary due to rpm(injector duty cycle)and intake temp, but this should get you by.
BTW: I also have a test pipe installed.
I have had a CEL ever since the evap sensor triggered it. Even if I clear it with a datalogger, it comes back within a couple of days. When I put the testpipe in with the turbo, I imediately had a CEL that will clear until I start the car, then I get it again. It is a fuel lean/cat code....no big deal.
Remember that your car will not like to be started and then driven imediately, let it warm up a couple of minutes or it will die. This might be due to the 7 heat range plugs I also use.
I highly recommend them. BKR7E-11 NGK This will help with detonation and I gap them to .035
I commented on something above. Not all 93 pump gas is the same. Even name brand gas can fool you. I have found locally, that one station gives me the lowest egt when I drive. It is actually 50 degrees cooler than anything around. My egt would go to 1650 if I use anything else. The gas is on Little Rock AFB, AR(base gas). Exxon, Chevron and Texaco are all about the same. I really think the base gas must be 95 Octane or better for some reason, or maybe it is in their additives. Shell is damn good gas also, just not enough experience with it to say for now(egt wise).
good luck and if you need anything further, just e-mail me directly if you like
