So I'm gonna try to get a smog check here in Cali with my turbo on..I know I can pass the sniffer (i think) but I'll just need someone to pass the visual. What can I do besides warming up the car pretty hot to help me pass the smog? Thanks

In california the deal is this and there is no way around it : If the turbo didn't come factory on the car you will not pass, no ifs ands or butts. Now what you can do is what i plan on doing this summer is give RAIZIN from this board a call or drop him an e-mail, get your butt down to San Deigo with your registration, and he will take care if it for you......
There is absolutly no way to get around the smog check if you are trying to do it legit, unless you take your whole system off and put all the stock stuff back on..
Theory #2 (and i had to do this with my blazer with the supercharger and the blazer with the turbo charger ((2 different cars both '88's))) Go to your local getto and go to the grungiest looking smog check only station, and if you are pretty sure you can pass the sniff check, just not the visual, tell the tech performing the check that there will be an extra $20 or $50 (use your discression on this one, you don't wanna give him too much) if he just doesn't pop the hood, or just won't say anything about what he is about to look at..... This one worked for me 5 seperate times at 2 different shops one was in Corona, and the other one was in Pomona. Good luck on this one, I have been in that situation too many times, and yes guys this is a pain in the ass, but you gotta do it to get your reg.

theoretically, if you have your HRC kit installed per the instructions it "should" pass smog. i was thinking about it, the pcv is still installed the breather vent is still plumbed back into the intake and the EGR is still intact. it's just those damn cali regulations i was thinking of making a bogus carb sticker. does anywone know what the greddy carb sticker lookes like? I got one for my nology wires, i forgot the number, but do you know what the greddy number is? i can hook us up if i can find what it looks like I mean what garage is going to know if our kit is made by greddy or HRC or star or whatever. lates james

theres a place called corona? cool! my uncles shot in Ncali used to pass me all the time, but uh, the fines for that are too large for him to do it anymore. they almost lost their liscense over it.

I just asked this question on another post about if shaun was going to get a carb exempt thingy for the NER kit, don't think that is going to happen but maybe. anyways, raizen in san diego will do it for sure, a trip to san diego is nothing for me, hope he is still doing that in a 6-9 months
