Hey guys, how much boost should a stock GST be putting out? i finally installed my gauge and im hitting 18 occasionally. does that sound right? i thought it would be lower. ive made every intake mod i can find, k&n filter, 1g bov, dump tube mode, etc. but otherwise im stock, stock exhaust, stock turbo, etc.

also, when i start playing with boost control what is a safe limit with those mods? ill probably start with a manual boost controller, any recommendations?

Stock fuel system and turbo max out at 16 psi I believe. I also think stock psi is 11 psi.

hmm, i wonder if theres a problem with my boost guage. whats the easiest way to test them? air compressor? i tapped in the spot dsm.org recommends. my cars an auto, would that make a difference? also the turbo is brand new, mitsu replaced the original about a month ago.

well, ive been reading around and i think im suffering from boost creep. im kinda new to this but it makes sence. do you guys know if boost creep would cause a gas smell from the exhaust? i think maybe im not burning all my fuel. do you you think rewiring my fuel pump will help here? or should i upgrade the exhaust.

With stock exhaust you should not be getting boost creep, maybe your waste gate is sticking. I know stock boost is not 18 psi.

i did some more testing. most of the time im at 14-15. occasionally i hit 17-18, this is usually when i floor it going around 40mph. my car is an auto so it seems like if i floor it, and it drops down to 2nd at just the right time it jumps to 17-18. but its not always easy to do that. also under normal driving conditions my vac is about 18. when i tap the gas a little it jumps straight to 0 and stop until the turbo spools, so it seems like the guage is workin right.

hmm, i have another question. are your turbos really freakin loud? mine hisses really loud during spool up. its as loud as the BOV. overpowers my exhaust sounds. i havent really noticed other turbo cars being that loud. i was watchin FnF the other night and those cars you only hear the bov, my turbo you can always hear when its spooling, is that normal?

Well my turbo is louder than my exhaust w/ an arospeed muffler. It's definately not as loud as the RFL BOV though :p BTW the sounds in the F&F are added in later. It's not actually the cars making them. Because as I'm sure you know the eclipse doesn't even really have a turbo.
