#24228, "egts under boost?"

What are your guys egts when you are flooring it? I mean when I am flooring it and once I get to 5000 rpms in third gear my egts are close to 1600 (1580) and I am too scared to keep pushing it... is that normal... I have the probe in the 4th runner... I also have the stock exhaust and I am stge 2... I was thinking maybe the exhaust gasses cant escape fast enough or something cause its too restrictive? Gonna upgrade so I can get more boost.... what else can help with egts I am getting good fuel pressure?

Stage 1 here. Under boost, I easily get close to 1600 then let off. At the highway; vac. on 10, speedo on 70, just giving it enuff throttle to maintain that speed, about 1300 on my EGT's. City driving, 1200-1300 sometimes 1400.

If you're lean you will hit 1600 before you should. At the track I tuned for 1550 as I crossed the line in the top of 3rd (when I was stage 2), which was around 95 mph.

So is it safe to assume that if my EGT's go above 1600 when boosting that I need to add more fuel? I am still trying to tune my shit and I am affraid that I will not be able to make it down the track before my EGT's hit 1600 and I have to let off.

If you have stock injectors you cant get only 1400 degrees at full boost. Its impossible. I was running 8 psi and I had my fuel system hitting 105-110 psi and I still had high EGT's.

my egt's get high around 5000 rpm in 3rd or 4th gear they get to like 1580-1598 range and i puss out. should this be happening? Does this mean I am maxing out my pump? how can I lower those temps? Do bigger injectors bring down the exaust temps? I ask because with my kit I got an airtex inline pump and it was a star kit so I don't know exactly what it's flow properties are, so i'm getting a little spooked. can anybody help i'm on stock injectors and stock internals runing 8psi with a bb(e) trim turbo

I least I know I am not alone... so I guess you guys do the same and dont push it all the way but that sucks when you are racing and cant push it all the way.... My guess to remedy this would be to get bigger injectors and a afc that way you can enrichen it at certain rpms.. I dunno?

Well if it makes you all feel any better, I have 415cc injectors and my EGT's still go over 1600 if I do not let off. I have an AFC and everything. I am in the process of tuning my car, but still do not have it right. I am hoping to get my car to Dino so he can tune it for me. emoji

Its pretty easy. Just richen the hell out of it untill the egt's start dropping.

HADES.....I bet you have low EGT's because your compression is soo damn low. I dont think your engine has much life left in it.

just because your egt temp is high does not mean your "always" running lean you could also be running a bit "too" rich.. this is from after-burn etc etc...

Thats true but you can tell if you keep richening and it doesnt get colder just lean it out and see if that works. Its all about testing. I am going to go through tuning in about 2-3 weeks when I break in my engine and its ready for 15 psi. I cant wait!!

haha yeah that could be it. emoji

I mean I can get it to 1500+ but not often. I have the stock pump, airtex inline pump, and 12:1 vortex FMU. It runs pretty damn cool haha I managed to lean it once during a really cold run. One thing about the star's fuel system is that it's set and forget but no room for tuning emoji

Weather can play a big difference in your EGT reading also obviously when it cooler you'll get cooler EGTs. Plus if you always stompin on the pedal it's gonna stay up there.

Avenger EST you got more than one probe in your manifold? haha now that I think of it that would be tight to have a digital EGT gauge that showed you all the temps of each runner in little bars that go from green to yellow to red. then another mode that takes all the readings and averages them into 1 bar and another mode that just desplays it numerically. haha that EGT system would cost a shit load of money but it would be cool like a fighter jet hehe...
