#23848, "car seems slower since head gasket"

well i put a new MLS gasket in and did the whole upper gasket kit. by the way i did in fact still have one of those original gaskets in (shop that did the rebuild told me that they put a MLS in!). well anyways my compression #'s are back to normal and car seems te be running smoother than ever. weird thing is my car seems slower now than it did before the gasket blew, granted i've still only done 3rd gear pulls on my new setup. vaccum looks good, reading -19ng(?) was at 17ng(?). also still only hitting about 650 celcius at top of 3rd. well sorry for the pointless post but i'm at work and bored.

good to hear your car is back in order anthony.

As for your car being slower...could be that you have an exhaust leak somewhere. Or that you are use to whatever psi you are running... time to up the boost.

...how thick was the gasket they installed. Factory is 40 thousands .040". That is the only thing I could think of. If it is thicker then your compression would go down which will make it slower with the same boost.

it was the factory MLS gasket....it came with the upper gasket kit from mitsu. it probably is thicker then the one i had before (original style gasket). that actually could it then......maybe i'll just turn it up to 17psi. BOOM!

EDIT: actually i just realized skrilla that my compression #'s were 150 (except for one cyl obviously) before the gasket and are still 150 across the board with the new gasket so i don't thinks that's it.
