if its possible for turbo manifolds to be nickel plated can i assume its also possible to plate them in chrome? both metals, but im not sure about the heat factor. bill, can you shed some light on this? what temps are expected on the manifold? EGT temps of <1700? what temperature can chrome hold up to? thanks ps-which EGT did you guys get? the cheap ones are less than $50 but the price reflects in the gauges appearance. the autometers (good looking ones) are $124 plus the probe which is like $80. is this gauge gonna be necessary for me running 7 or less psi? AS far as the manifolds go, i can't help you, but i can answer some of your A/F gauge questions.
They do not need to be modified for boosted applications. All they really do is give you a reading on your o2 sensor voltages, which fluctuate with ECU fuel trim as well as the richness/leaness of your WOT air/fuel mixture. When gadgetseller modifies your a/f gauge, it simply gets re-calibrated to read the upper range (.82 - .99v) of the o2 sensor's output, mainly for WOT tuning (It is totally useless once modified for partial-throttle tuning). If you buy the Jumptronix a/f gauge from RRE, it gives you a backlit digital readout of the exact voltage, rather than a blinky-light display in .1v increments. It's what i have, and i like it.
I also have the AutoMeter ultralight EGT gauge /w probe. It came all in one piece, and cost me about $130. It's a nice looking gauge with fairly fast and accurate responce. I got it from RRE, and have it tapped into the #4 runner on my Star manifold.

Chrome plating is not the best bet, as it will discolor dramatically from the heat of the manifold. I prefer ceramic-metallic coatings, such as those from Jet-Hot and HPC. Many local companies now also have this technology. It will not discolor, and also forms a useful heat barrier to help with underhood temps.

Using Old-School DSMing techniques I went with the Autometer EGT gauge and the fast-reacting Westach EGT probe. As far as most DSMers are concerned its the best combo/price.

Personally I find all the beauty I could ever ask for in the big ass (well medium size) turbo perched high in the engine bay. You show guys dont leave any stones unturned. I guess thats what it takes.
