Ok I have the dis 2 dual channel ignition. The one with the dip switches. What else do I need other than the ignition itself. I have heard about people needing the tach adapter, but am not sure if this is a must. Also is there anything else. I am also reading the instructions and it says that it will not override the factory settings, for timing, etc. Is the ignition still going to retard the timing. I would like to run 12 psi daily. Will I even need to retard the timing, also should I set the plug gap to a bigger gap. TIA

you will need the tach adapter. part nubmer 8912, it's like 40 or 50 bucks. if you do not have this the car will not run. other than that the install is really quite easy. only a few wires to cut and then you are off. It makes a day and night difference after the ignition is in. when i put my programmable dis-2 in it was great. lates james

i heard from some people who have the dis2, some dont use the tach but i would since its sopose to boost the signal, and try and keep your cel off. if you get the dis2 (normal) you can retard timing by rpm... its also comes with a carb # hehe =)

the tach adapter synchronizes the spark output from the dis-2 ignition. if our cars were singal coil systems like most honda's, then we could run it without the tach adapter. the tech support is real good at msd. they will tell how to arrange the first set of switches so your car will rev past 3 grand. later

THE ONLY THING THE "TACH ADAPTER" does on our cars is keep the CEL off. My car runs FINE without the $50 tach adapter and the CEL on. No big deal. Fuck spending $50 to keep a damn light off.
