#23726, "Best way to get 0 psi boost when breaking in eng."

Well my pistons and rods are still on back order from Howell but as soon as they get in I am going to next day air them to me. When I get the rebuild done in about a week after that I was woundering what is the best way to boost 0 psi. Ever since I f'ed up my eng. I have not been driving in any boost but thats only because I don't get on it. Is there a better way to some how block the boost or something. What have you guys that have broken in your eng. done to prevent boost for the first 1500 miles or so.
Thanks for any help,
Patrick

Well, I did not completely not boost at first. I broke my engine in before I put the turbo kit on. But, I found out a way last weekend to help avoid building boost. I know it works for the star kit, but probably would not work for the Hahn. I blew out one of the bolts holding my wastegate on to the manifold. Yes, the exhaust was quite a bit louder, but it made it very difficult to build boost. But I would just restrain from getting on it until you are broken in. Just my opinion.

Just make sure the wastegate is set at the lowest possible boost setting and drive like your grandmother.

Look at your boost gauge and make sure the needle doesn't go past zero as you step on the pedal.

Yeah I have the Hahn kit so the waste gate option will not work. So I guess I have to keep doing what I have been doing just giving very little throttle. I was just hoping there was some way to stop the boost pressure so at like 1000 miles I could start to use higher rpms to help the break in process.
Thanks for the feedback,
Patrick

Yes it does you just have to adjust the length of the rod on the waategate. I think lengthening it makes it boost less (its been a long time since i did that).

Take the wastegate actuator arm OFF, the WG will stay open and you will not boost.

just don't press the pedal to the floor. it can be done. I watch old people pull out in the street and do just that every day emoji
