I have a 99 eclipse rs, automatic, star stage 1, 5 psi....

This should have been posted in war stories, but imma post it here.
I raced a 5-speed acura integra ls, with the basic bolt-ons, and i lost by 2 car lengths, i mainly think its because im an auto, but i just hate the fact that he was all motor and i was turbocharged..so i might just sell my car, and get something else, maybe a 5-speed rs, im not sure, but i dont want to sell my car guys, i got a body kit on it and stuff and it looks good and i put money into it, what should i do? should i mix a 50 shot of nitrous in with the 5psi turbo and run him again? or even, forget the nitrous, and bump the boost to 7psi?

dont be discouraged my friend. these acura/honda all motors are damm fast. well some of them anyways. if you are going to sell your car buy a 5 speed rs or gs and keep the stg 1. buy a starion fmic and up the boost to 7 psi. meet with him again and bye bye acura }>

Getting the IC and upping the boost sounds good to me

First off, something might be wrong with your car. You should beable to beat an LS Integra without a turbo. When I had my '97 non-turbo, the only Integra I lost to was GSR's and Type R's. All I had was apexi exhaust, pacesetter headers, aem cam gears and aem cold air intake. 5psi produces more power than all that. I'd do a compression test and get your car datalogged before you buy another car.


You could always buy another RS/GS. Then you can swap any aftermarket part you have to the new one. Since you will have the un-modified oil pan and downpipe it would be an easy turbo swap. You can also swap the body kit in 30 minutes if you happen to get the same color eclipse. Another good reason for a swap is that 2nd gen's have gone down in price a lot since 1999 (the last year). I remember checking out a '99 GS with sports package in '99 and it was $22,000. Thats how much the '97 gst was in '97. Now you could get a '99 for like 13,000 and possible save a bit on payments. You could also do a tranny swap but that might be a big pain in the ass. I dont think you would save that much money unless you dont owe that much (or its payed off) on your current eclipse. maybe it was one of the older GSRs hehe, those are all motor but... VTEC. I say go for the tranny swap, get a nice tranny with not so many miles and get a strong clutch while your at it. Then get an intercooler and boost away. I'll tell you this stage 1 or 2 turbo I can whomp on most honduhs that roam the streets here. Only cars worth the game now are muscle cars and higher class imports but I haven't quite gotten there yet. At least this way you kinda hold on to your investment. If your gonna sell the car you might as well get a GST then. Hehe get a new oil pan and stuff and take the kit out and get a manifold and downpipe for the GST or X and pop that turbo in there unless you got an HRC I think it might bolt up.

Dude. Go to www.car-parts.com and find a trani. There is 4 pages worth of manual transmisions all over the country.

here, buy my car, i can guarantee you'll beat that teg.

I don't see how a basic all motor with bolt on teg could beat 5psi.

arite guys, most of you said do the tranny swap, arite, the scenario, i go out and i buy a 5-speed tranny right, n then what else would i have to buy? Just thinking about it scares me, like adding another pedal next to my brake, and adding a shifter and stuff.

Another question, will a 90-94 eclipse 5-speed tranny work?

Even w/ a 5spd your car wont be fast until you do a rebuild which cost to much $. If you can get a decent ammount of $ for your car then try something new w/ another car. If not then keep the car. You shoulda gotten Hahn kit if your an auto and if you try using nitrous and a big ass turbo on a auto you will be breaking axles left and right. Good luck

hey man don't give up, i have an auto, and i whoop people left and right. trust me, i've raced mustangs,camaros, a 300zx, and turbo civics, and more, just work on launching your car at the line. and also you probably gonna need stage 2 and at least a fuel controller. you'll probably running real rich right now. also when my tranny got screwed up, i put a racing clutch kit and mopar ecu on mine, and i have better acceleration. people always say, "oh man, you have auto" i'm like so what? and then when i race they freak out. so don't be discouraged with it, upgrade your injectors and get a front mount intercooler, and a tranny cooler is a must also.

Dark reality, how much is that mopar ecu and racing clutch kit?

When i lost to that car, i lost by like 2-3 cars, again, i was running 5psi, should i try running 7psi? i dont wanna go over 7psi because im only stage 1 non intercooled, but when i race, its at night, when its really really cold..

so my real question is, will 7psi instead of 5psi give me the edge i need to take out the integra?

Thats what I said. I think you should see if something is wrong with your car. Its apparently causing a loss in power somewhere along the lines.
