I'm thinking bout getting a MBC but wanna know how the ball and spring MBC. I know that the bleeder types just bleed boost so that the wastegate opens later but is prone to spikes. Also I know that an electronic BC keeps the wastegate fully closed and when the desired boost is reached opens it up (VIA vac line) which is good so that your wastegate doesn't start slowly openning a pund or two before it is supposed to be oppened. Now does the ball and spring do that? thanks

go with electronic if you have the money. i've used 3 different MBC's none worked very well. right now i'm using a turboXS duel stage MBC, so far seems very accurate, you can get them on ebay for $180. so if you go with a MBC i would only recommend this one. i even had the popular Joe P. MBC didn't like it.

In the newest Sport Compact Car (July 2002), there is a large section in the back dedicated to turbo sizing and a comparison of different boost controllers(mostly electronic) including a ball and spring variety. It's pretty widely accepted that a bleeder type is inferior.
