i have a 95 eagle talon ESI and i was wondering if it was possible and what i need to transfer a 1GNT talon TSI turbo into my ESI. i have everything at my disposal from the 1GNT TURBO, i was just wondering if i can go ahead with the modification? will the turbo manifold bolt right up to my engine, will i need a new ECU, or boost controller? if you guys can think of anything else i need to do the swap, it would help a ton..thanks, ryan

This is one of those questions that we've seen a million times before. I'm sure you'll find answers in the "things we've seen before" section and you can use the search function to search archived threads from the turbo section. My general statement is: "if you are asking this question, you should not attempt it". It is a huge effort to build a custom turbo system from scratch. Installing a pre-built turbo kit, tuning it, and not blowing your engine is enough work as is. You don't need to add the "custom" aspect until you really know your stuff. So, it can/has been done...but please do alot more research before even considering it.

He meant 1G turbo... my guess is he accidentally added the "NT". emoji

I got a turbo off of a 1st generation eagle talon tsi. I have a 2nd generation eagle talon esi. How hard is it to put the turbo on the 2nd generation esi? What I am asking is how difficult is it to bolt up the manifold turbo and downpipe etc. This wasnt an easy task fellas... last night we had to outrun the cops inside the junkyard.. and waded a river to get away.. we ARE putting this turbo on my car.. we have a little knowlegde with turbos, and we have friends that can help us out as well. I'm just wondering if i will need to look for anything else in order to put it on... thanks for the help.

let the good times roll.

Yes you need EVERYTHING else to do that. Those parts came off of a 4G63 Mitsu motor. You have a 420a Chrysler motor. They are totally different and the manifold will not bolt up. You'll need at least $1400 to do a custom turbo. And that's a very conservative amount.

that sucks that that manifold won't bolt up. here i am getting that shit for nothing. i can still use the turbo right? would it be better if i just found a 95 talon tsi and pulled all the shit off of that and then put it on mine. i know there would still be some money i would have to put into it. but tell me, anyone, if what i should do. i don't want to customize shit right now, just get the stock boost for now. thanks ryan

Like Matt said, it's at least a $1400 job for a custom turbo setup. I'm doing one and it'll end up costing me about that but I'm getting some insane hookups. All factory turbo model DSMs have the Mitsu 4g63 engine. The 1GNT has the Mitsu 4g63 also. The 2GNT has the Chrysler 420A. This engine is COMPLETELY different. No engine parts are swapable and the manifold will not work. It'll cost you about $250 for a custom 420A turbo manifold.

Also, here's some more info for ya. The 1G turbo 5spd DSMs came with the 14B turbocharger, which is probably what you have. It is a little better than the 2G turbo which is T-25.

This is a bare-bones list of what you'll need to build a custom trubocharger system:
TURBOCHARGER
MANIFOLD
DOWNPIPE/DUMPPIPE
BOV
INTAKE (Charge pipes/cone filter/etc.)
CONNECTORS/CLAMPS/T
FUEL CUT DEFECIENTER
FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR
FUEL PUMP
OIL & FUEL LINES
GAUGES: Boost, A/F, EGT, Fuel Pressure
GUAGE POD
BOOST CONTROLLER (opt, highly recommmended)
INTERCOOLER (opt, highly recommmended)
INTERCOOLER PIPING (opt, highly recommmended)

Again, this is a minimal list. It's a MUCH BETTER plan to go with an HRC or Star kit.

thanks so much bro...well i am happy to know that atleast i can still use the turbo with a custom manifold. i am definitely willing to spend 250 or more on a custom manifold...do you have anyone in mind that will do it for me? ok, here's what i definitely have already: intercooler for the turbo i took off the 1st gen, intercooler piping, bov, all vacuum lines, frickin turbo, and the down pipe with the 02 sensor still in. i definitely knew that i was gonna have to get the fuel regulators and shit and possibly a new fuel pump, but i don't car. I JUST WANT BOOST BAD! i know i have to go about this pretty fucking smart so everything works out. but, the way i see it, i almost got all the shit i need besides a new manifold, gauges, and the intake and piping. just give me some feedback on where i can get a custom manifold done and other tips. tell me how yours is going for you. thanks, you've been a big help..ryan

BOOST THAT SHIT!

For a manifold the person to contact would be me
I hope your turbo is 14b from a manual car, the auto had the smaller 13g
Not much can be used from the 1st gen intercooler piping will not fit, same thing for the downpipe, and you will have to trash the o2 housing too, injectors are not compatibles, maybe the fuel pump but I don't know
So basically the turbo itself and that's about it

You can see pictures of manifolds that I do here

After reading these posts and seing what your knowledge of turbos is. I would strongly suggest to you to buy a kit, instead of trying to custom make one yourself.
For the custom kit you will have to measure, bend, weld and cut everything. the intercooler you have from the 1g will not fit without some work. then you have to custom make the manifold. not to mention all the lines and "an" fittings, FMU, or FPR, fuel pump, etc, etc.

I suggest buying a couple books about turbocharger systems and read them before you try this. I'm sure someone here knows of a good one to check out.

Turbo that were tested with the manifold includes the T3 and IHI rhb-52 from Ford turbo car of the 80's, the mitsu 13g, 14b, 16g also
Manifolds are $250 and extra are $25 for an 1/8 NPT EGT sensor and $25 for an external wastegate flange

and personnaly I think you are not ready to built a turbocar you have to much basic to learn
