#22137, "Why does my Blitz BOV sound like crap at 5-6psi"

I called blitz and they said it sounds bad and quiet because I am only pushing about 5-6 psi of boost. Is this right? I tried to adjust it all day yesterday but it never got better. Who has one on their car what psi are you running and how loud is it how does it sound. My friend said he knows a guy with a neon and it is real loud. I don't know what is wrong. Please help out guys blitz didn't help at all. Oh yeah it is their DD SS BOV.
Thanks,
Parick

all bovs are different, and respond differently w/ different settings. my tial isn't adjustable and supposedly is good to about 40+ psi. at 3 psi i'm BARELY using it and it only flutters some. i'ts overkill if you ask me.

That's what I heard from a friend, too, that the Blitz is good for 12-15 psi and up applications. It sounds awesome at 20 psi!

well i have the blitz SS and it sounds pretty loud. im runnin about 7.5-8 psi. mine goes off nice and strong too when im only boosting 4-6 psi. you might have a defected one? im not sure what you can check to make sure it is workin properly, but make sure that all your piping is on tight and it has the vaccum line on the top. i know when my ic piping came loose it wasnt really blowin off. only a lil. so make sure everything is tight.

Thanks for the advice I will check the conections on my IC piping.
Mitsuman how do you have your adjstment screw toward the top or the bottom. I have it more toward the bottom. Mine makes a sqeeking noise with a little woosh, I thought it was supposed make a loud wooshing noise that flutters a little bit. How loud is it can you hear it with your windows up or the radio on? I hope it is not deffective.
Thanks,
Patrick

the tial BOV is only good for the max of 35psi. It will start to leak sometimes after 30psi. But it is still the better one of BOV's..... and they are loud as hell especially when your running 23psi on race gas...hehehe.... TIAL rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I retightened my IC piping at the elbow and TB, but no improvement. It sounds decent when I get on it only a little but it is quiet. I dont know I hope it just needs more boost to sound better.

The more boost, the better the BOV sounds imo. Nothing sounds better than a bov going off with 20+ psi. I wish I had a BOV and a FMIC hehe.

I have the new Blitz SS too. I run *minimal* boost daily driving and mine makes a mean "whoosh". As far as flutter you don't want too much of that. Optimally you want zero actually. Compressor fins don't appreciate that as much as you would think emoji I have it run to the "nipple" closest to the passenger side of the engine (left). It's the only thing being run off of that manifold line. Before I had it T'd up with something else and it wasn't venting properly, alot of blow-back. And for what you're looking for, wasn't giving the "whoosh". I was also running a different size tubing then they supplied with the bov. Mine was smaller. Those were my two culprits. After I isolated the bov to it's own source on the manifold and used the correct diameter tubing it worked great. Also, check to see how tight you have the screw on the top. If it's too tight then you will get that "flutter". Basically the tighter the screw is the less time the bov will stay open to vent the boost and vice-versa. To achieve the desired "whoosh" it needs to stay open longer. Plus, that is the way it's designed to work. But again not too loose either.

It's pretty self-explanatory when you think about it. The optimal size tubing will more accurately relay the amount of manifold pressure you are achieving to the bov so when you left off the throttle it will open more precisely and give that "whoosh". And with the screw on the bov set out more it will leave the bov open longer so more air can escape and once again attribute to the "whoosh". With my windows down and on a quiet street you can actually hear the elongated exhale of the bov. It sounds really awesome actually. I build the boost then let off the gas and push in the clutch so the engine quiets down so you can isolate the bov sound. You will hear the intial "whoosh" and then if you keep listening closely you can hear every bit of air being vented until there's nothing left. It's like you taking a deep breath then trying to exhale ALL the air you have in your lungs. The sound you make when you're struggling to get out that last tiny bit. Same thing emoji
There's a shot of her...

Anyway, I'm sure you'll figure it out. Good luck, Later...

Hey spaniard372 I went out and looked under the hood. My intake manifold has 3 fittings. The one on the drivers side is a fat thick line that that goes down below the eng. The line in the middle is an electrical fitting. And the line on the left (drivers side) is spliced into 3. The one on the right is an original fitting that goes down the right side of the eng. toward the front. The middle t's off one way to my FPR and the other way it t's again to my boost guage and bov. The one on the left goes to my power steering I think. So what could be wrong? The only thing I can think of is that the t at the bov and boost guage is a little smaller than the one that came with the bov. I will put in the new t fitting and see if that helps. What do you make of all this? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Patrick
