It's 4:15 in the morning on day 3 of the install and me and Kyle (Fast420A) are tired as HELL. So sorry if the paragraphs are a little erratic.

HRC Stage 1, 99 RS. Getting CEL, Only hitting 3-4 psi, Getting close to 1600 EGT at WOT, A\F is getting wacky readings at WOT and cruise (it would read really low like .105-.200 at WOT and getting ultra rich readings when letting off throttle.)

Anyone with a 99, what's the O2 sensor wire color, we tapped in at white with a black stripe on ECU. Just like Fast420A's 97. Both gauges have been tested BEFORE the install using Fast420A's car and readings are OK, fine, and very similar to one another. Oh yeah, I have the modified Nordskog from gadgetseller.com and Corbin's A\F.

Car seems to run fine, it pulls nice, no pinging or detonation, perfect FP (45 at idle and 80 at WOT).

When the car was very first started, it would idle for a few sec then shut-off. Fuel pressure was fixed then it was fine. Then we reset the ECU to get rid of the CEL and it would idle for a few sec then die, but FP was normal (45 psi)

Back to the A\F, it might be bad connections. At one point AFTER letting off the gas, the A\F went to -.210 give or take.

A little help please....................Thank you!!!!

WOW! It's been an exhausting 3 days. Monday we worked 8 hours. Tuesday we worked from 11am NON STOP until Wed 7am. Then Wed from 4pm til 4 am. The car is able to run but and after having been run a few times the car is seeming to idle smoother. I do have some wiring issues I think I've narrowed down.

We couldn't have done this without the help of Alex (Skillionaire) He came over Monday night for a while and he was there from 11pm til 7am on Tues after working all day!! emoji emoji emoji

Well I guess tomorrow the wiring issues will be solved, other than that, all I want to know about is that damn CEL! emoji

Time to get some sleep so I can know whats going on tomorrow.

make sure your a/f meters are grounded well, preferably at the ECU ground point. i got really low readings til i fixed the ground. check the connection on your fuel mapper if you have one, that can cause a CEL

Have you checked your Fuel pressure readings under boost?

Are they at 80-90 psi at 6 lbs of boost? And you have your Fuel Mapper all soldered in correctly?

I's a 99 so we can't do the key dance to check the codes.

Welcome to the wonderful world of boost! emoji

You are experiencing everything as it should be really. Make sure the ground for the A/F gauge is REALLY good. Ground it where the ECU grounds to the chassis if you have to. EGTs hitting 1600 and wacky A/F readings are fairly normal. I had that for a year with my car. It always ran rich and the fuel pressure would just change all by itself. RE-ground the A/F, then see how much fuel pressure you have at WOT and make sure it doesn't drop by itself at idle.

As for the CEL, I can almost guarantee you it is the EVAP code. Nothing you can do about that. emoji

These are all perfectly normal symptoms of a turbo 420a. (at least in my experience). Good luck.

Well, we ran the car again after we reseted the ECU (which did not take out the CEL). I guess the only way to know what it is, is to either pay Satan or get a datalogger kit. FP seems fine at WOT and idle (between 40-45) and WOT (a bit over 60). Was still getting some wacked out readings when we were cruising at VERY low speeds. EGT's were fine. A\F was again wacky, but maybe due to bad round.

I guess it is normal for the turbo to smoke a bit around the 1st time. Kindda like installing a new cat-back were smoke and nasty smelling shit comes out of the tip. The turbo doesn't smoke now though. Thanks!!!!!!

ALSO SPECIAL THANKS TO FAST420A (KYLE) FOR THE HELP WITH THE INSTALL, WHICH HE ROUGLY DID 70% OF THE WORK. WITHOUT YOU MAN, I'D STILL BE STUCK UNBOLTING THE DP. AND OF COURSE, YOU TO SKILLIONARE (ALEX), W\O YOU MAN, WE COULD HAVE NEVER PUT THE TURBO IN THE MOUNTED MANIFOLD. THANKS FOR PULLING THAT RADIATOR. AGAIN, THANK YOU GUYS AND I HOPE THAT SOMEDAY, I MAY BE ABLE TO RETURN THE FAVOR.

"FP seems fine at WOT and idle (between 40-45) and WOT (a bit

Fuel pressure at WOT without boost can be at 60 psi, but under full boost/WOT at 6 psi, it needs to be at 80-90 psi.

yeah, me and kyle, pretty sure, just tuned it right. We just took it for a little test run. We are getting between 80-90 at aroud 4-5 psi. the egt's hover around 1500 then drop a bit as the tranny shifts

If you haven't done it already, rewire the A/F ground. It should be where the ECU grounds to the chassis under the fuse box in the engine bay. Cruise to 40 mph and quickly let off the gas...you should see numbers approximately zero. Anything from about -0.004 to +0.004 is OK. Anything more negative means that you have chosen a bad ground or bad wiring. If you still get screwed up readings after re-grounding, remove the extra A/F as there may be some interaction. Make sure you are getting a steady 80-90 psi at 6 psi boost. Have a passenger watch the gauges for you, if you want. The fuel pressure is extremely important.
