2G's look better. And w/ a 1G you'll most likely have pretty high milage on it.. causing you to have to rebuild it sooner, which would cost you a lot of money. KEEP DA 2G! (my opinion)

Keep in mind that I need tie rod ends struts all the way round shifter linkage and my front and rear bumper needs painted. so this is more like a money thing

I would say, that would be an equal trade for an AWD talon/eclipse w/less than 100,000 miles.. but otherwise, stick with what u got.
97' Eclipse RS (kinda)

It really depends on what you want to do. The only reason I went with a 1st gen is because it was AWD.
You will have trouble finding a 1st gen turbo for 2 grand. Ones that are in decent shape are a bit more money. Mine cost $4300 in perfect condition. A 2 thousand dollar DSM will be in bad shape. Just because its older doesn't make it dirt cheap.
You can't expect other people to tell you what to do with your money or your car. Do what you think is best for what you want to do. I like drag racing. AWD was the way to go. Otherwise I would still be tearing it up with my turbo GS.
