Ok I have the SFMU hooked up to the service port port on the fuel rail ('98) I unhooked the fuel line that goes from the stock regulator to the fuel pump assmbly and put a vacuum plug onto the regulator output. I then ran the return hose from the SFMU to the port on the fuel pump assembly where the regulator used to go. Is this all there is to disabling the stock regulator? The reason I ask is because I'm getting 14 psi idle and 25 psi vacuum (I have 315cc injectors). I can adjust the static and idle on the SFMU to the min and max on both and NOTHING happens. I know the pressures are way low but the car runs perfect and the O2's are the same as they were befroe I did all of this. Maybe the pressure gause is bad too??? My main concern is getting the stock regulator disabled. Am I doing it right or is there more to it? BTW there is NO boost on the engine right now so the pressure doesn't rise other than from 18 vac to 0 vac.

Where is your fuel press gauge? If it's past the S-fmu on the return side, you're reading the return line pressure which means absolutely nothing. Make sure it's in the right place first.

Past that, sounds to me like you did it right.

I would take the stock fuel pressure regulator out all together. All you have to do is unscrew it and plug the hole with a 1 inch long 12mm bold (fine thread) and ruber washer. Since the stock regulator is still there it could be taking some pressure from the system. You can also get a different spring from Vortech. This spring will alow you to set your static fuel pressure higher.

I thought you were supposed to remove and throw away the stock regulator. The last time I did it, I followed this route. You run a rubber fuel line from the stock pump output to the inline pump inlet. The inline pump outlet has a rubber fuel line on it that leads to the stock fuel filter with an adapter. Fuel travels up the stock hard line up to the rail. Fuel is carried out of the rail through the service port (with schader valve removed). An adapter is put on the service port to let you put a rubber line on it. A rubber fuel line from the adapter leads to the S-FMU inlet. The fuel pressure guage hooks to a tee at the inlet. The S-FMU outlet goes to a rubber line that hooks to hard line that runs back to the tank area. A rubber fuel line goes from the hard line back into the return on the stock fuel pump assembly. I recently hooked up a HRC kit like this (we had to improvise with the filter adapter). Everything worked fine.

Stupid question, but did you remove the schrader valve from the fuel rail service port? Looks just like the one in your tires' valve stem... Gotta unscrew it with either a schrader tool or two tiny screwdrivers.

Well I'm not running an inline so I guess I'll just unscrew the stock regulator and put a bolt in there. Thanks guys.
