Well I took my car to various muffler shops throughout San Jose and they gave me mostly the same response, it's not gonna fit, that flex section is too big balblabla. I even tried to go buy another flex section and damn places charge like 70+ for these things I guess the RRE deal ain't so bad. Well I take it to this one shop and he sez he can do it but he'll have to redo the piping some so I said ok, he even managed to install my monster flanger and it came out beautiful. Check it out cost me 60 bux but I got got more of my exhuast system 3" as opposed to the stars crappy 2.5-.75" downpipe. I needed the flanges installed so I can take apart the turbo system and take it to a muffler shop to get a dump pipe welded on also. He kinda welded the exhuast hooks to the downpipe flange but I guess that's okay I'll just pop that rubber part off if I need to take the downpipe off. Check it out. Pretty close to my Tie Bar there, makes having the tire bar that low a little more practical ^_^ Yep I painted it black to match the star downpipe and the rest of the exhuast system 3" inch flange That's the section of the downpipe that was redone in 3" that's the flex section my my my that's awfully close Flex section ingredients
I got one question, do you guys with star downpipes run the downpipe really close to the oil pan. The dude said it was ok it wasn't touching touching but it like freaking close like 1/8 inch close. Do you think I should get some exhuast wrap and wrap that part that close to the downpipe. Grrr the fitment of these Star downpipes really disapoints me they should come with flex sections also.
Oh yes and if you live around San Jose Babe and Lightning's Muffler Service is a pretty good shop, I had my previous muffler installed there, they do some good work ^_^

I sent you an response to your email the other day? Did you get it??
70 is a rip off, 50 is decent. I can get the sections in 4,6,8,10" runs The flex sections themselves on say a 6" section are 6" but add 3" for the ends that are welded on for a total of 9". The 10" section I can get for 40 bucks. RRE goes for 50. Of course the smaller you go with the flex section the cheaper it is, I'll have to get prices on those if anyone else is interested.

Mine DP is close, but not so close that it bothers me.
I've never run a flex section, and i've never had a problem with it.

heh yeah basically I wanted to get rid of this thing one way or another I bought it a while back with all my exhuast goodies for my 3" exhuast and it's just been laying around for good long time. But now that I've got it done I have to say it benefited me a lot more than I'd though cuz more of the exhuast system is 3 inch now Plus the exhuast clears more of the RRE tie bar so it's not so I'm takin advantage of the tie bars stupid lowness
Got a question for you DarkOne: Did you feel any difference when you had your dumpipe welded in? Good or bad? I'm planning to get that welded up similar to your when I take the manifold off to replace the gasket. Haha I've actually grown to like the dumpipe discharging sound, it sound really scary, I'm sure honduh guys go WTF was that when I zoom by them.

The only difference i noticed was the complete lack of that nasty noise. A nice long 2" tube that dumps somewhere outside the engine bay would probably work to reduce the noise in the same manner, but at the time i was worried about passing visual, so.. heh

you passed visual with the dump tube? Doh haha I don't think I'll pass a visual in cali though. But then again it does comply to smog regulations if it's going back into the exhuast, haha only thing I gotta worry about is the catch can filter hehe...
So how was the sound when you put it on? You just can't hear that crazy raw exhuast sound anymore? Pretty silent? Do you prefer it to having it open. I also don't like how there's all this soot on the bottom of the engine and when I do a hill climb I can smell that CO going into the car. Haha I'll kinda miss the sound cuz i'm sure it scared the hell of a lot of people when I did flybys bwahahah.
