#20840, "melling oil pump from howell kit too good?"
well, after i put the howell kit in i noticed the melling oil pump pumps almost too good! well my question here is i was wondering if this could be causing a thin film of oil in my intake manifold. I checked my pcv valve at is is working okay, so i was wondering if the increased vacuum from the total seal rings and the increased pumping capacity of the melling oil pump would cause this. i noticed if my car sits for a while and i start it a small puff of smoke comes out of my exhaust. My compression is great i am getting no blow by. I assume that the oil that is getting in my manifold is dripping down and sitting on the valves when it the car sits. then when i start it, it burns. thanks james

Possibly valve stem seals.
I have the same pump, pull 18-19in.HG at idle, and mine doesn't do that.

i replaced all the valve stem seals when i put the new valves in. i think they are okay. the total seal rings instructions say to put a .062 diameter restrictor into the pcv line. i will try this and see if it helps any. thanks james

i think that's BS .. total seals aren't any better than any other ring IMO.
Give it a shot, though. If you replaced the valve stem seals, are you sure you dodn't miss one?
