#20590, "got a check engine light...and fuel cut! help !"

this morning on the way to school i got a constant check engine light and i noticed what felt like a fuel cut when i went into positive boost. on the way back from school( didnt go) i boosted and didnt feel the jump. is there any way to test obd2 with the key dance or am i gonna have to go to the dealer. i looked over everything under the hood and everything seemed to be ok. my first thought is the fuel mapper but im not sure. thanks
Joe

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? It could be a lack of spark. Check your wires and make sure your plugs are good. It will hesitate if you have crappy plugs or wires.

to give you all an update, the light has since gone off and no more fuel cut. i asked another friend with a boosted avenger and he said his Ce light comes on sometimes and goes off eventually. pretty positive its the fuel mapper. gonna invest in a vc2 i guess.

You might also want to keep an eye on your water temperature. After I installed the turbo, i started having increases in water temp (the needle would go about 2/3 up then drop to 1/2 then 2/3 then drop again, etc...). Replacing the stock stat didn't help. Once, the temp went a little higher and caused a lean bank condition which threw a CEL. I ordered the 160 thermostat from Howell and it's been perfect ever since (just a touch below 1/2 the way up on the gauge). I dunno if that could be your problem or not, but just something to watch for.
