A 16g is internally gated so there is no need for an external wastegate.

Yeah the 16G has an intergral wastegate. I'm getting a brand new small 16G from Mitsubishi for $300. emoji

I assume this is a custom setup you're trying to do? If so, why are you going w/ the cartech FPR. Get the vortech unit. I've seen far less probs from people here.

...also don't forget assorted gaskets, vacuum lines, T's, and oil feed connector (or whatever it's called)

What kind of problems are people having with the Cartech? I'll check out the Vortech too.

I believe it's been an base fuel pressure fluctuation problem. I don't have one, so I don't know for sure. I've just seen several people post about problems like this and never heard anyone complain about the vortech unit yet. Ask the guys w/ the HRC kit.

I had the old cast aluminum HRC FPR. I was very displeased with it. I was getting 25 psi fluctuations in static pressure from cold to warm. This affected boosted pressure to some degree. In my eyes, that is completely unacceptable. My S-FMU gave me 1 psi or less fluctuation from cold to warm. I highly recommend the S-FMU.

Also, the Walbro 255 HP combined with stock injectors is really only safe for lower boost pressures (6 psi on 16G). It can barely provide enough fuel for 9 psi boost. If you wish to run higher boost, I would suggest an inline pump combined with the stock pump.

Hmm... an inline pump along with the stock pump. Is this combination suitable for 10-20psi? What about the Walbro 255 fuel pump and bigger injectors? I'd like opinions on what to do here. I would like to be prepared for 10-20psi.

Thanks for the replys about the FPR. I'll stay away from the Cartech... I'm going with the Vortech.

You'll find discussions on fuel pressures, injectors, and fuel pumps here:
http://www.geocities.com/vttalon/tech.html
The point is the fuel flow from a pump decreases as you ask it to supply more and more pressure. Small injectors require high fuel pressures when trying to get alot of power out of them. For example 9 psi on a HRC kit requires 105-110 psi. You need the stock pump plus a big inline pump to safely supply enough fuel at that pressure. The Walbro 255 HP would have a tough time doing that (it might be able to do it, but you would be on the fringe of safety and the pump would wear out prematurely). You can support some serious HP on the Walbro if your max fuel pressure is 60 psi or so. That is doable if you have really big injectors. I'd just like to impress on you that making a high horsepower fuel system from scratch will take some effort. And there are always many ways to do it.

So Corbin, Your saying the walbro 255 is not good with the stock injectors, but with say some 450cc ones it would do good? That is my plan to add some good injectors when I get bored with 6psi.

Walbro 255 HP works fine for 6 psi on a HRC kit with stock injectors (80-90 psi fuel pressure). It BARELY works for 9 psi on HRC kit with stock injectors (105-110 psi fuel pressure). It seems to be very capable at lower fuel pressures. All of the necessary info for figuring out the capabilities of this pump are on my tech pages:
