#2049, "HELP!! HRC in-line pump for 1995 2GNT"

OK, I recently acquired the HRC in-line pump with all mounting hardware (the bushings, bolts, clamps, and a *nice* aluminum bracket).

The instructions say to use the unused holes in the chasis to mount the bracket. What holes?!? Since I'm in Canada, my chasis was sprayed with some black tar like compound, so I see no holes... emoji

However, holes or no holes, I can't seem to fit the bracket anywhere. I know the in-line pump is supposed to go right after the in-tank pump (my fuel filter is in the front of the car (1995), but HOW THE HELL DO I MOUNT THE BRACKET that I mount the pump to?? I spent a few hours twisting turning pulling to no avail. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH!

I thought this in-line pump would be easy to install since the instructions looked real nice and professional. emoji

But alas, I'm stuck...

To those that have the inline mounted near the fuel tank, could you snap some pictures and show me how exactly you have it mounted??

Leon, if you give me until this evening unless HRC answers this first, I can help ya. The instructions are just not near where I'm at. I'll look at my HRC fuel instructions and forward you the part you need.

Leon, did you pick this up from a used souce? We are unaware of any sales of this setup outside of a complete turbosystem purchase to date.

In any case, we do have two different setups: one for late cars (like 97 up) and another for earlier cars. Do you know which setup you have acquired?

Thanks for replying..

Yes, I got it used from a fellow 2GNTer who has an in-tank pump instead. Call me paranoid...I just want to ensure I get enough fuel!

I have the pump setup for the 1995 fuel setup (as said by the HRC instructions). I just can't figure out where/how to mount the bracket to the chasis! The instructions say to use the holes in the chasis...where o where?? I see one hole, but I can't even get the bolt into it, plus the bracket won't even fit there... emoji Do I have to make my own mounts?? nooo....

oh hahah...

from this link:

http://www.2gnt.com/dcforum/DCForumID25/259.html

I see that the in-line pump was from the early stages of the HRC kit; it came from Thunder's turbo kit via Corbin...

Hmmmm....I have not been asked this particular question before. The holes you need should be there, but apparently they are not from what you are saying.

Would you care to give me a call? Call our Tech line at 630-801-9065, ask for Bill, and we will figure this out.

1-5PM CST.

If you try and do not get through, it's likely because I am on with another customer. Wait a bit and then try again.

Hahaha... Welcome Fellow "Early '95 Eclipse" owner...

I had the same problem. There are NO mounting holes, give it up. I went with an in-tank fuel pump too. There was no way in hell that I was going to dangle a stupid fuel pump from under my car.
If you insist on mounting it, its gonna be fun, 'coz last time I checked, there was also basically *no* space down there.

But at least you can smile, we DO have a fuel return line that saves us quite some trouble.

LAST EDITED ON 27-Feb-01 AT 01:32 AM (PST)

By the way Hahn Racecraft, if you would like to improve your instructions manual, I am willing to help you develop a better one, and fix some discrepancies and errors that I came across while installing your turbo kit. In exchange for some parts or something emoji

I own (and work on) a 1995 Eclipse RS (with an early fuel system).

I also happened to be one of the first people (if not *the* first - so you told me) to install your APEX'i FMIC (back in August). Now THAT was fun! Especially considering that it came without instructions, and mounted inside out!...(No hard feelings now that it all runs!)

My other credibilities include that it was my first time doing most of the work on the car, and I have that "newbie/enthusiast" perspective! I had only chaged springs and headers (with help) on a '91 Accord before installing my HRC Stage II turbo Kit on the RS. Since then I have performed some 420A transplants and taken a 420A apart... Now I can say that I have almost completely dismantled *everything* in my car..

Yeah sorry, I didn't even think to look that you're a 95. The fuel install instructions would be a lot different. Since Bill told you to call him, I'd try again. Jsut call right at 1 or whenever and be the first to talk to him.

He's very helpful and easy to understand! BTW, the fuel pump that my HRC kit came with, had a metal faceplate to protect it from any debris under the car. My in-line fuel pump mounts right in front of the fuel tank on the passenger side of the car by where the fuel filter is stationed at. Maybe not though, depending on where your fuel filter is...

Good luck

I have the same hardware and it still goes in the same place...just that I can't seem to fit the metal bracket.

An actual picture of a successssfult installation might help...
