#20315, "Why do i have white smoke coming out the back of my exhaust?"

I have a star stage 1 turbo kit in my 99 eclipse rs....after im done flooring my car and when i let go of the pedal..white smoke comes out the back of my exhaust...when i take off its kool, but when it really starts to get on it..white smoke comes out for a while....im thinking i have a leak in my turbo, causing oil to go into my intake manifold and through my exhaust causing it to smoke like that, also, when i take off my intake pipe, and i touch it with my finger, i can wipe off what looks to be like oil...can anyone help

Weird, last car I had that had a "white" smoke comming out of it, turned out to be a blown head gasket. Water was leaking into the cylnders. Ironicaly it was a turbo car.

Well that is a good sign. Perhaps you blew the seal on the compressor side?

According to the HRC manual, if you see 'white' smoke from your exhaust, you have a leaking headgasket, internal coolant leak. Check for coolant consumption. How much were you boosting???

BLACK smoke = FUEL (running rich)
WHITE smoke = COOLANT (not good)
BLUE smoke = OIL (also not good)

Coolant is worse case scenario.

Black = a/f mixture is off (not necessarily too much fuel)
White = could be coolant leak or could be a/f mixture as well
Blue = Oil (piston rings are going)

Im doing only 5 pounds of boost guys, and this white smoke comes only after im done flooring it...i opened up my intake pipe and i could feel oil when i put my finger in it...also, the turbo compressor, where the wheel is, there is also oil there......this is what im thinking is happening.........that oil is leaking out the turbo, into my intake manifold, and out my exhaust....i hope this is whats wrong

Burning oil would be blue smoke. Do a compression test. It will let you know if you got something in there thats not suppose to be in there.

Could be a burnt valve, blown headgasket, etc. how are you so sure that it is not coolant or water? You are right now describing all the symptoms of something possibly having gone wrong. Do a compression test.

if you do have oil in your int. man., then why don't you put in a catch can? it's about $50+hoses. works too. keeps all the blow-by out of the manifold, and you can see how much is getting loose
