#2031, "Clutch & Flywheel Needed - Gimme Advice Please!"

Hey Guys,

I'm in the middle of my engine rebuild (full bottom end, porting, lightening etc..) and I need a clutch & flywheel setup for my car when it is all ready (Hopefully very soon!).

I have an "early" (Oct '94) '95 Eclipse RS with (I assume) the non-modular setup. The stock clutch in my car has not slipped once in over 70 drag strip passes including the 13.9s (Don't forget Hundreds of "non-dragstrip" drag races). But I realize that it won't last forever, especially after I increase boost pressure.

I want a clucth that is BETTER than the stock one please!
I know LOTS of you have had trouble with aftermarket ones, and I can personally vouch that the stock one so far was GOOD.

So Suggestions please....

Clutchmasters Stage IV?
CNNP Racing?
Anything Better?

Your experiences?

i run the unorthodox racing stage 1+ clutch with a fidanza aluminum flywheel. It holds damn well...now that i got everything adjusted right. They are supposed to be coming out with a stage 2 clutch that uses the same 4 puck disc, but a stronger pressure plate.

a lot of people recomend the clutchmasters on here...but everyone of them i have seen is junk. My buddies stage IV for his eclipse was so badly off balance, i thought it was going to shoot through the bellhousing.

I would also try giving CNNP racing a call. I think they have more clutches than what they have listed on their website. They might be able to give you some real good alternatives.

Thanks for the advice on that... I was actually wondering about the clutchmasters clutch.

I have been looking at the CNNP Clutch pretty closely. Some people are having trouble with it slipping when cold (which is what ceramic clutches do in cold weather), however I haven't heard too much about how it hold up to big horsepower.

Fast all motor neons use it, but they only look like they make about 300+ ish HP.

I have pretty muched reached the point of "barely daily driver", and I hope for my clutch to both work at the strip and on the road, including the occasional Chicago traffic. I know I'm asking for too much but hey...maybe there is an all around solution out there!

Well... I guess I will have to try something sooner or later!
I will let you guys know of the results though.
