Hey, i was wondering if i could use a stock side mount intercooler for my star stage 1? Where could i mount it? Do you think it's worth it? I'm getting the sidemount for almost nothing. How much psi would i be able to run with a side mount? I want a front mount but i don'thave the $$$$ yet =-(, so this will do for now. Thanks guys

There are SAAB side mount intercoolers for sale on Ebay for around $35 and they would be able to support 10 psi. You would have to use metal straps to hold it in place, or have a bracket made(welded on) to mount it forward of your left tire. A supra side mount intercooler fits and there is a writeup on how to install it(Vfaq?). That is much bigger than a saab, 2g or 1g side mount. I have a friend with a 2g AWD(20G)using a supra side mount. He boosts 17-22 psi(depends if he has some C16 race fuel)and the side mount has not gotten heat soaked on the autocross track or drag strip. The car is a mid 12 second car in the quarter on kumho street tires.
I personally would go with the 2G, 1G, Saab, starion front mount, star front mount, hahn side mount, griffin front mount, hahn front mount. This is ranked from worst(still functional)to best.
If you want a griffin front mount, call http://www.polkperformance.com Donald Polk can get you one for around $500 plus shipping. These are huge and will fit our 2G. Tell him you want top and bottom end tanks with the outlets facing the left side of the car. Our cars mount a front mount intercooler the same as a GS-t or GSX. We just need the outlets facing the left side instead of the right.
BTW: Don Polk races a 1G fwd laser....you may have seen it. It is fast & furious green. He is listed on the fastest dsm page. That was his first season with the car. He also just opened a shop here in Little Rock, AR. He is really nationally known for his sheetmetal intakes and port jobs. This guy is a genius with making heads flow.
