I have noticed that I have been leaking oil for a little while now. But I thought it was only coming from the valve cover. Today I had some free time so I jacked up the car and started to clean up the oil and track where it was coming from. I figured it was coming from my BOV there was even some oil in the BOV. I also noticed oil coming from the bottom of my airfilter. This is a substancial amount of oil not just a few spots here and there, I had to add 1/2 quart of oil yesterday. WTF what is the problem here.

I just got done talking with a mechanic friend and he told me I probably just need a catch can to collect all the extra oil. I don't really know a hole lot about the catch can, but from what I have read I think he is right. Is the RRE catchcan the best one for the money?

Yes it is. I suggest getting 4 feet of 8mm silicone hose with it also. RRE told me 6mm, but I went with 8mm and it was perfect. The extra hose will allow you to disconnect the line from the valve cover to the(pcv valve) intake manifold. Use a rubber cap(comes with RRE catch can)and zip tie it to the nipple on the intake manifold. Now you can attach the silicone hose to the back side nipple on the valve cover and run the hose(anyway you desire) to the catch can. Take another section of hose and connect it to the nipple on the left side of the valve cover(cars left side)and run it to the other fitting on the catch can. Bacically you have two hoses breathing to the catch can. You will have to cap your fitting on your intake piping that your old valve cover breather line was attach to. The extra cap(catch can comes with two black silicone caps)should do the job nicely. You can mount your catch can any place you desire. Just make sure you can get to it fairly easily to put a cup below it and drain it now and then.

This should get you started. If your mechanic friend can turn a wrench, he will be able to read these instructions and install everything in less than 30 minutes.

Doing this will pretty much eliminate large amounts of oil coming out your valve cover. If you autocross or take back highways like a road course under boosting conditions, you will have to check it more often. I personally have to drain my catch can after 3 autocross runs. Not much fluid comes out(1/4 cup), but it tends to splash inside the catch can and soak the breather filter on top.

K&N filter cleaner spray works great at cleaning these filters.
