#19442, "any temp problems on long trips?"

i was just wondering if any of you turbo guys have any problems w/ EGT's or engine temp in general if you're on like a 5 hour trip goin' 80-85 the whole time. also, does the HRC FMIC let enough air hit the radiator, or do you guys have overheating probs?

EGTs don't get worse as you drive longer trips.... the engine maintains a certain temperature all the time.

There was no change in engine temp when I put the FMIC in my GS. I drove 8 hours to Ohio from Maryland last year for the shootout in 100 degree weather and had no problems.

well what i meant was are you guys still able to drive for extended periods of time at 85 or so mph, w/o having to worry about the EGT's getting too high? i guess i'm asking what your EGT's are at that speed, b/c i've noticed that in 5th at about 85 i'm at like ~3800 rpms, which would mean i would be in boost when turboed(HRC). so is it safe to be in boost for 4-5 hours straight? or in other words what are your EGT's when driving that speed for an extended period of time? if you didn't understand what i just said it's ok emoji...i'm not even sure what i just said, hehe.

well boost is not purely rpm based throttle position is also a huge factor if your at 5000 rpm and only 1/4 way on the throttle then your not in boost. does that make sence?

your only boosting substantially when your in the pedal pretty hard, trips on a turbo kit should be fine, just do a good job on the install, dont cut any corners or you'll end up stock in bfe emoji

Well I've taken my built GS from MN to FL and back almost twice now(1600 miles and 24 hours each way) and have no hot EGT expirences or overheating. I saw my EGT's around 700-725 (1292-1337 for you Auto Meter guys) the WHOLE way down and up. I usually kept it about 5 MPH over the speed limit and never had a problem. If you do go faster I think you might see a small increase in EGT's but I don't think your gonna hurt a thing emoji. Did I help any? By the way is'nt 80-85mph speeding? hehe emoji
