the install went really well (except for a minor problem, read on).

After debating on the location of placement, we settled on using the right fender air dam as our air source to cool oil (might as well put that opening to use). The front bumper was too tight of a fit for the core they wanted to use (thoughts of you guys running front mounts crossed my mind, so don't say I never think about you mofos), plus if the bumper and related supports had to be trimmed, then it would not be a true bolt on. Hence a thinner but just a efficient cooler is used. I'll keep a tight lip until they release the kit. I'll only say it is a 6 pass core.

The unit itself is quiet nice. Quality is equivalent to Greddy units (they use fancy AN fittings), but at a better price.

It is a sandwich adaptor (about 1" thick, which means your filter will sit 1" lower). Wes Fisher claim that Frahm makes a filter that will fit our application. I'll look into cross reference numbers and pass it on to you guys if I find anything.

Now for what I think (good and bad):
1. if you are lowered (more than 2"), it is probably not a good idea for you to run this kit as one of the bracket that supports the cooler is the lower right corner bolt that is found on the underside support of your bumper. the one that you always scrape coming out of a drive way. I'm lowered on RSRs (1.3"), and I'm a bit weary about it being that low. Only time will tell if it will cause a problem or not. if you are low, better go with a smaller unit that you can mount in the mouth, or trim away some of that plastic black radiator thingy to mount it in the front (word around the camp fire is that a tranny cooler might be in order for us automatic owners that will go there).

2. relate to #1. Atleast the whole assembly is well supported enough ( 2 sheet bracket, and the hose clamps from the hoses) but at the same time has enough play to absorb a bumper scrape where nothing will crack. Once again only time will tell.

3. Kit will come with all fittings needed, and clear insturctions on how to mount it. I briefly read it once, and understand what is to be done.

4. Sorry to you 4g63 owners. No cooler for you guys as your oil pump do not put out enough pressure to compensate for the drop.

Problem I ran into:
After the install we cranked the motor to make sure oil is getting to the cooler while still on the jack stand. After filling up to the appropriate amount of oil (additional 1 quart), we started the car up to let it run for 10 minutes while on jack stands. Coolant started leaking out from behind the block.

After shutting off the engine, we inspected the block and found absolutely nothing leaking. fire the car up again, and leaks started back up. Once again inpsection yield nothing. Even called Pomona Mitsu to ask them what is back there that can cause the leak ( heater core line, freeze plug, and water pump seal). Everything seems fine.

Well lowering the back on it's tires and fired it up again yield a surprising result. No coolant leaks. Even after driving home (16.5 miles under boosted condidtion), still no leaks yet. I'll check again tonight.

What do you guys think may have caused this?

I'll work on getting some pictures for you guys and possibly see if I can get a group buy for this cooler cooked up for ya'll. We'll see.

that's pretty wack if coolant is leaking from your oil cooler

Well I got my SUPER OIL COOLER to fit in my bumper, hehe really tight I might add but it fits. Way too big for that scoop though. The core is about 1 inch thing on my cooler i think, so you must have a fat core but small width and height. That's no custom kit if there aren't any recommended places to put it. Its only as good as my oil cooler if you have to engineer some shiet. I would like a truly custom make oil cooler with accurate instruction and mounting points. Try mounting it in the front mouth if you don't got a FMIC.

I have 2 oil filter's numbers that Randy hooked me up with that will fit a oil cooler 2GNT. I'm using it right now and it worx and looks stock Freakin scary looking at that oil filter thats as low as me RRE tie bar! I'll give you the numbers when i get home from school.

remember I wouldn't buy it if there weren't custom mounts made for our carz, then it would just be some universal kit. But at least you got the oil filter adapter and sandwich adapter down hehe I had to buy a different filter adapter cuz the one I got was wrong but it worx

Now when I installed the smaller filter the thread was a little big I think it's made for a metric bolt but as I screwed it in tighter it got tighter and so far I've had no problems with the Pure One. Hehe the credit goes to Randy for oil filters.

In response to your question about the specific application:

We mainly use my vehicle as a test bed to come up with their last kit to complete their Sport Compact Car applications.

We could have easily unbolted my bumper and used a very large and thick core (you should have see the selection of coolers, raidators, and fans that they have in the back), but to keep installation at a minimal hassle (hence Bolt on 2 hour job max IMO), we went with what I have in the car and at the location it presently is at to take advantage of the opening.

Personally I would drill holes into my inlet cover to allow flow, at the same time to keep out rocks.

Eitherway my car is only a test bed. Maybe they might want to do something different by release date. I'll be seeing them again tomorrow to discuss any problems or concerns that I or you guys might have.

if space is an issue, couldnt we just install/bolt a cooler up to the firewall, and run a lil ducting to it from one of the "brake scoops"?

The oil cooler is not leaking any coolant. We could not determine where the coolant was coming from but I am sure it is not related to the oil cooler. The oil cooler is in no way related to engine coolant.
The leak only occured when the vehicle was on stands and stopped leaking when on level ground. I have no explanation as to what would cause this. The cooler does fit very well behind the passenger side air duct. No modification to the vehicle was required, and the brackets/straps for mounting the cooler only required that they be bent at 90 degrees rather than left straight. The cooler dimensions are 3/4" x 7-1/2" x 12-1/2". Ground clearance should only be an issue if the bottom of the bumper was hit or bent back by 2" or 3". Hmm I'm kind of puzzled hot GSTs can't have an oil cooler upgrade though. Because they already have oil coolers right? I saw a TSi with a denso oil cooler in the junkyard.

Did you take into account for different bumper from 95-96 and 97-99. Might fit differently, haha but if I can fit this monster cooler in my bumper I suppose any core will fit

looks like permacool has much better tech support I tried calling B&M up and asking where I could get another oil filter adapter and they kept on talking to me like I was stupid or something. Haha more like they didn't know squat about the kit they put togeither. I bet they didn't even make it

Oh yeah kaiser you might wanna think about drilling holes in the front fender wells. I noticed GSTs have those there for intercoolers and oil coolers. I drilled a bunch for mine after my wheel burned a hole through it when I was driving around without my bumper on Should help dissapate some of that heat in there.

Hades, already on it. I started this afternoon, and got tired so I'll finish the rest tomorrow. I even poke a few holes in the front air dam cover. Still gotta maintain that sleeper look.

Oh the 97+ 4g63 do not have Oil coolers. I believe some of the 95 and possibly early 96 have oil coolers.

wow really that interesting. I forget what year Talon TSi was in the yard I think it was a 95-96. That's gay I couldn't think about running turbo without an oil cooler. There much be some way to cool the oil down in 97+ Eclipse/Talons. I would think it would be a good idea also because the 4G63 has oil squiters for the pistons to cool the head down so that oil would get extra hot I bet.
