Ok i posted before about how to get this off. I bought a 1 1/16" deep well socket and put it over the hex and the socket freely turns around without a problem. I called Hahn and they told me they use 1 1/16". Does anyone know of any other way to get this thing off. B/c i cannot come up with anything. My car is 2 hours away from being completed if i can get this sending unit off. Sorry to post about this again but i figure people are finished lookin at my other post. Does it matter if i strip this hex getting it off?? thanks much

The ones I've seen are 1 1/16". I used a 1 1/16" deep well on mine. Maybe you don't have the proper oil sensor. Maybe a previous owner replaced it with the one one. You might test out some other sizes. Just buy several sizes and return the ones that don't fit.

1 1/16" is the correct size socket, but:
It needs to be REALLY DEEP! A standard deep-well usually won't quite reach. There's a special 1 1/16" socket called a "sensor" socket that's made just for removing these things.
My index finger fits almost completely inside the sensor socket, I can just barely touch the back of it.

i got the oil pressure sending unit off finally. went to Napa and they sell a deep well 1 1/16" oil pressure sending unit socket for 7 bux. so in my case a regular deep well 1 1/16" socket did not work. I assume other people will have this problem in the future. My car is a 98 GS. Hope this helps people out with their install.
