yeah could be... I was running a little rich(.93) and you could see the black smoke in the high rpms (6000-7000). I also have the stock spark plugs (don't know if that makes a difference)

Do you still have a cat installed?

What piping is used on your exhaust?

Do you still have stock injectors and 12:1 fmu disc?

What was your egt at 7K rpm in 3rd gear?

Was this on a dynojet?

What was your Outside air temp? (70 degrees approx. in shop)

Thanks, I really need to get some baseline numbers on my car for future tuning.

thanks for the reply. and yes the stock fmu disc in the star stage 1 or stage 2 is 12:1. .93 O2 voltage in not overly rich in my opinion. Especially after the O2 sensor warms up after a while. check out RRE O2 voltage reading under the A/F meter section.

I really think 8 psi, on 93 pump gas, using stock injectors and 12:1 fmu is a bit lean. I actually think your knock sensor might be retarding timing. At 7K rpm in 3rd gear, your egt will most likely be 1650F or above. It was on my car, that is why I put in the 30LB injectors and 8:1 ring/disc. My car pulls noticeable harder in the upper rpm band and my cars egts never get over 1580 in 3rd or even 4th gear. This is on 10psi and 8psi is around 1550-1560.

If you upraded your fuel system, you will gain more power at the same psi. IMHO

appreciate your dyno numbers. I will try and do a 8psi and 10psi dyno. I have a friend building a new shop with a new dynojet. When he is finished, I will have numbers to post.

I might just upgrade the injectors, but want to get an SAfc first. how much did the 8:1 disc run you and was it easy to install?
do you run really rich no cus of that?
Thanks

I will be reading O2 voltage when Corbin gets in the parts for this batch. I can only rely on egt at the moment. Both instruments give you the big picture along with hp/torque numbers on a dyno.

You will need to buy the recal kit from Vortech no matter what fuel system upgrade you decide on.

I think I run safely rich with my setup, but not overly rich. I also think that mid rpm I run overly rich and loose power because of it. When I reach full boost and get into the high rpm band, the car begins to lean out a bit more and run safely rich.

I think that with a AFC I could have a better transition between off boost and on boost power and make my car run better with partial throttle inputs(low boost). Corbin's map sensor(boost sensor) for the AFC should help this out also.

All I am saying is that I believe you will gain more power by installing an 8:1 fmu disc/ring(10 minute install and very easy) and 30LB injectors. I would do this before just buying a S-AFC and trying to get more fuel with that. You are aleady maxing out your stock injectors and a S-AFC will make this happen at a lower rpm if you try and add fuel in the mid rpm range. You will buy a vortech recal kit now matter what you do. If you have the cash for S-AFC, recal kit and 440 injectors, just do it all at once.

I took the easy fix and spent $200 total on new injectors($155) and recal kit($45). Fuel problems all fixed until I need more than 10 psi.

The 8:1 disk and ring itself from vortech is like 33 bucks plus shipping. but, you can get the entire recalibraion kit(12,10,8,6, and 4 disk/rings) for like 44 bucks. if you plan on running bigger injectors in the future(more than 30lb) it might be better to get the whole kit so you have more options.

i may be going in for another dyno session. my pump is bad so they're getting a new one and it may need to be tuned again, if so i'll be running about 8psi, funstuff...that'll be about a week from now. if it gets on the dyno i'll post the info.
