I just got my Crane ignition with the optional boost retard installed, along with an Accel DFI, which is pre-programmed by HRC for 15 psi (pump gas); has anyone dyno'd to see how much timing should be retarded at 15-20 psi boost? I tried retarding 10 degrees at 15 psi and it hesitates (studders) really bad. The car ran a little better when I retard at 5 degrees. Does anyone have a better suggestion?

Plus, the car runs REALLY rich at idle and low throttle driving (kind of expected that), but is there any way to lean out the fuel system for low throttle driving, or is this something I'm gonna have to live with. Any suggestions or comments is welcomed. At this point, I don't have a CalMap software yet, so I really can't see how the fuel curve is. Thanks!

I don't think anyone will know for sure how far to retard timing unless someone cracks the ECU codes.

I remember Dino mention somethign about plugging in you Datalogger...?

Hey I have the same ignition sys.
I'm having problems when hookikg up the retard functions.
My manuel doesn't match up to the wiring on the unit.
I called HRC and we walk through it step by step but no luck.
When it is connected I can't adjust timing.
Its stay retarded all the time. Very bad idle.
You run into any of these problems?

What i've found out from talking to a few ppl is you need to do a run with as low as possable boost. and use a datalogger or somekind to see what your timing advance is from the ecu. So say you do a run at 5 psi and your timing is 25 deg adv from the ecu. you want to run 18-20 deg at full boost, if possable. So set you boost to the desired level and adjust your timing to pull 5-7 deg of retard by full boost.

But you need to see what your cars timing is close to stock before you guess with pulling timing. Cause you car my only adv it 14 deg, and if you pulled 10 you'd only have 4 left..
