Anyone do this to a turbo manifold? My friend got his HRC kit today and 2 guys we know looked at it and said it sucked and needed to be cleaned up and ported where the welds are on the inside.I would think that if it needed cleaning up it would have it and that maybe the structural integrity of the manifold would be comprimised by doing this. I know that on turbo cars, the manifold gets REALLY hot and sometimes crack..maybe the reason for added weld thickness. If anyone has any suggestions or input ...let me know. Thanks!

Same here, I wouldn't touch it. I also thought about cleaning just a rough edges, etc, but I think it would weaken the manifold. Plus, it has to support the heavy turbo and everyone knows it gets reaally hot. When my manifold was off during the engine rebuild, I took it to a reputable welding shop and asked the 25-year master welder about it, and he advised me not to do anything to it. And, yes, by looking at the inside of the manifold, it does look like the rough edges might obstruct air flow a little.

agreed.
i thought the hahn manifold was in really good conidtion. mine had been touched up a little by hahn, and theres really not a whole lot that needs to be done.
look at some of the other turbo kits on the market for other cars in similar price range (especially a lot of the honda kits)and compare their manifolds to the hahn one, like someone said, the hahn manifold is one of the better ones out there, short of custom or full race manifolds

Do it and you risk voiding any warranty you have in case something happens to your manifold. If you gring on it, HRC probably won't replace it.

Ya..I know that it would viod the warranty so thats ONE of the reason's I'm not touching it. I don't think the 2 so called intelligent guys that said to do it really know there shit. I told my friend that I would not touch it if it was mine. I expected to see a cast iron manifold when I went to check it all out and was impressed with the manifold myself. I think it is FAR better than alot I've seen. If it was cast iron I told him that I would port it out just to clean up the casting roughness but this is not a cast manifold so why bother. It has nice bends and no kinks and also looks pretty sturdy for being tubular. I know that many times tubular turbo manifolds are more likely to crack than cast ones..so why make it easier. Thanks for responses...I wanted to see if I was right...
