Ok, so I got a apexi universal air filter. It has like a 3.5'' opening.... and its not the average k & n clamp and go... i dont know if there is an adapter or something i can get, but it came with 2 differnt gaskets also, like its meant to mount up to a mass air flow sensor or some shit, anyone know what the deal is with this? I will post pictures soon, the only thing i can this is to make a plate, cut a hole in it, and 1 bolt hole in each corner, then weld the plate to the intake pipe, use a gasket and bolt it together.... i wish there was a kit already made up, or hope there is cause i hate to go through all that trouble to make this damn "universal" filter fit....

Ive heard from many, many, many mechanics that if its not K&N its junk. My friend put the apexi on his car after having the K&N then got it dyno'd, he lost a couple horsepower. Id send it back while you still have time and get whats proven. K&N all the way!!!

I am gonna try it out, looks like its made pretty good, just havent firgured out what they were thinking about the back of it, hehe... my k & n got worn out.. time for a change.. anyone got any ideas? I just had the intake powdercoated and hate to weld on it and re powdercoat it...

You might be able to cut a plate to fit out of hard plastic, then bolt and silicon it to the filter itself. Thencut a hole in the plastic to fit a silicon adapter into. If you could get a silicon adapter with a lip on it to fit inside the plate, that would be best. Then silicon the adapter to the plate on the filter. Then you could just connect the silicon adapter to the intake piping you have like the K&N's do. If you apply the silicon on the inside of the plastic plate then the mating surfaces would still look nice (you may have to silicon the adapter to the plastic plate before you put the plate on the filter in order to do that though). Thats the best I can come up with.

Yeah, thats what I was coing up with, looks like i'll be visiting the locla home depots plumbing department That way I can paitn and clearcoat the adapter and it should still look pretty decent. As for ratings, it is supposed to be better than a K&N, and its an oil free filter...
