Well guys If you are still running your erg tube on the car please for the sake of soot take it off. I recently took mine off and I guess I blew the guts out of my egr valve. So basically it looks as if the fukn thing never shut. The inside of my upper is caked up with like a 1/8 of soot. The BIG deal was the pipe itself. That thing must get purty fkn hot, it seems to have burt the wires on the whole harness that runs along the side of the head=bad fkn juju. Please do all of us here a favor and check it I would hate to see a fire from any of you or the price it would cost to get a new harness. late mike

I think Stan melted into his harness like a year ago. Mine is removed and blocked on the intake manifold because of how much crap it throws back into the intake.

Mine is removed because not only did it burn my harness a bit, after my STAR kit, it was burning a fuel line.

Best damn thing i ever did was take that bitch off.

You will need to get caps on both ends (back of intake mani, side of head) go to the back of the manifold and find the steel pipe follow it to the head and remove. What most people do is pinch the pipe and weld the seam. I made some block off plates and nobody seemed to want to pay for them. I have about 10 extra sets besides my guys that are local. Its an esy fix with detrimental consequences. e mail me and we'll work something out. late mike

Get a piece of sheet metal. Cut it to the same shape as the EGR plate. Put in on the intake manifold with the plate and the bolts. You can leave the pipe in place if you want but I just took it off and let the EGR vent to the atmosphere.

yeah took mine out also... made gaskets out of metal and used some locking wahsers for the one that is attached to the engine bay since the bolts are kind of long. I cut the pipe on the intake mani side and welded it shut (threw the rest away) and put 3 nipples on it and now have enough nipples on the manifold to run every vacumm line directly from it! emoji

I feel your pain I too am a prisoner in cali....
But you must remember we only have to get our car smoged every 2 years so inbetween you can do what you want.
Which brings me to another question, do we have to take our turbo kits off our 420a motors for smog checks?

Yes you will probably get a cell. But if this is a problem vs. your whole car going up in smoke I would choose the block off. If you need to see what I'm talking about take off the pipe in the back of the manifold. Just take a peek in the pipe. As far as emissions just keep the pipe the way it is so you can put it back on during smog check. I have plenty of these things made I just dont know how to go about shipping. It would probably be around 1.50 to mail. But this is such a simple thing to do. Another thing to do for justification, Take off your upper intercooler pipe and look in it. Clean right? now open the throttle body plate (carefully) and do a finger swipe in there. Yep that shit is hard to get off your hand. And besides all the soot like I said earlier the heat is what scared me. That pipe gets fukn hot and the wire harness runs in a groove on the egr tube. Guys tell me what you want to do these little plates are identical to the plates (without the pipe or hole). late mike
