i took the car to satan today to have the spark plug and VC gasket replaced (under warranty) and talked to the tech (who im pretty cool with cause he isnt like most techs, he supports modifications and actually knows his shit). anyway, i found out why im leaking oil...i thought it was the gasket but as it turns out the low compression in my number 4 cylinder (bad ring i assume) is causing all the excess boost leaking into the crankcase to blow out oil behind the VC through the gasket itself. so the only solution is to fix the ring (so obviously im not doing that until i get my full rebuild). so im going to have to keep driving it with leaking oil and refilling it often. do you guys think i should stop/reduce boosting almost completely or will losing oil through the crankcase not cause any damage? it has always idled fine, never misfires, not a single problem so far (knock knock), but are there any potential long term problems i could get from dirving it with oil consistently in the crankcase? and will the worn ring eventually blow altogether or is that not really related to current wear so much as it is to actual boost pressure? (thats the main question that im not sure about)
