#17898, "s-fmu fitting of disk/ring etc help"

i was going to change the disk inside the s-fmu to the 2.72"disk/ring but i notice there was no ring only a disk when i open it ?
also when i put the one size smaller disk/ring does it matter what side is what and how u put it in? i dont think so... also when i place it inside it moves around a little is that normal?
what would be the best combo to use spring/disk/ring for stage 2 hrc ? should i use the 3.62"disk and a stiff spring ? the dark color one? jason what do you got in yours ?
cool man =)

Hey this is Mark (SnakeEyes8181@aol.com)

The one that was in the FMU is JUST the DISC no ring..
Put the 2.72 in with it's ring.
The FMU has little ring engraved on the inside where the ring will sit into kind of..

Put in the Dark spring and then tune it with the Static screw on the very top of the unit.

I got that setup from Corbin and he KNOWS!!!

thanks dude, im just waitting for my adapter and free time... i notice on one of corbin earlier post he stated for 6psi use the sitff ( dark spring ) and 2.72" disk and ring... but he did not say anything about the 9psi deal? would it be the same setup? and for corbin u said idle fue pressure is 42psi ? did you use your afc to tune it a bit more ? any input would help...
thanks

Your idle pressure will depend on what full-boost pressure you are going for. For me: 2.72" disk with hard spring (dark) my full vacuum pressure was 42 psi, 55 psi at 0 boost, and 85 psi at 6 psi boost. You could probably get it to work for 9 psi too. You would have to adjust the static pressure screw some to get the right numbers at full boost. I just wanted to post numbers for stuff that I have experience with.

at idle if i set it at 42psi would i have to use the afc in anyway? 42psi is a bit low for idle right? and say, for 9psi you are saying i got to adjust my static ( idle ) vacuum lower then 42psi? i would rather run richer then to lean so what should i do? i go to 9psi once in a while racing people for daily use mostly 6psi or less....

You really don't need an AFC with stock injectors. Your ECU won't need any help if you set your pressures like I said. I ran fine like this for a couple months (transition stage). 42 psi at full vacuum is not too low. For example, 1995's ran 38 psi at full vacuum. The later cars run about 50 psi (no matter what vacuum). So for your car, the 42 psi at full vacuum is only about 7% less fuel than the ECU expects to see. At 0 boost, the 55 psi will give you about 5% more fuel than the ECU expects. To run 9 psi with the disk and spring that I mentioned earlier, you would likely have to raise your static fuel pressure. Like 60-65 instead of 55 psi. That would get you close to 105-110 psi at 9 psi boost. You just have to experiment some. Adjust the static pressure screw until you get the right fuel pressures at full boost.
