How reliable is it to run this kit without constantly bumping into problems? What are problems that are likely to be seen when running this kit? Everyone on here that has a Stage 3 or higher seems to have all kinds of problems going on all the time.

Problems with any turbo kit itself tend to be few and far between. I haven't had a single car-threatening issue with my STAR kit in a year (that wasn't my fault anyway - it was my fault i cracked a piston). However, i have had just about everything on the car break - rack&pinion, front tranny seal, clutch replacement due to oil contamination, almost lost the PS pump.. these kinds of things happen when cars age (mine's a 95), not necessarily from having the turbo kit.

well, my car is a 98, had 32k on her when the kit was installed, now it has 39 on it like 2 yrs later... so that tells you i have had mucho downtime... its a fever though in my case, gotta get it all done, then it will get my seal of approval... then 2 days after its back and driving again, i get a new list full of shit that i cant stand or want to do... and back down she goes.... reliability wise on hahn's kits, i have had no problems that werent cause by me... other than a cracking and warping manifold, i'm good to go. you can count on boost leaks, blowing piping connectors off, blowing out cheap rubber elbows, and all kinds of fun things that will help you learn more about the design and structure of engines, so its a learning experience...

I think at Stage V levels, you shouldn't be worried about reliability. If you are, then you shouldn't get a stage V. That is pretty extreme, and I personally would recommend it for a race car, but not as a dependable daily driver. Anytime you do extreme mods to a car, I wouldn't call the car reliable anymore (not reliable like a stock civic anyway).

You hit the nail dead on the head. if you hav ethe cash and time ot purchase and instal a stage 5 kit, you better be ready, because your car will have the potential to BE a RACE CAR, and with that potential, there is also problems. the ONLY concern you should have if you buy a stage 5 system is power output in my honest opinion, not reliability. however, if you instal the kit exactly as it is supposed ot be installed, your car will be very reliable........for going to the grocery store and such, but as you start to tap into your power, you will find that 1. the rubber I/C pipe connectors aren't designed for over 12 psi of pressure, 2.the stock differential was never designed for over 300 wheel hp 3. the stock axles were never designed for 300 hp 4. traction is scarce, and the list goes on and on and on. if you want reliablilty AND a fast car, my best suggestion would be to save up and buy a supra (that is about as fast as you would get with a stag 3 equivalent turbosystem anyway)
A.D.P. bring it on............
A.D.P. "...If you do too much, people become dependant. If you do to little, people loose hope. If you do it right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all." bring it on...........

hey Super20g, are you able to be a daily driver with it? i'm thinking going beyond to get my car in the 10's regardless. my ultimate goal with my car is to go beyond stage V and be streetable like the supra can handle, also have you dyno'd your car lately 'cause i want to know at what HP point you're at and what times were you able to achieve so far?

I drive my car everyday. To and from work, etc. I gets me there, but I'm always listening for noises, dealing with idle fluctuations, scared it will stall and won't start back up (happened twice), playing with boost pressures, watching egt's, o2's and fuel pressure, and trying to figure out how to make it run better. It's exhausting. But when I wheel onto the freeway ramp, drop the hammer and go from 30 to 90 in a blink of an eye, it's all worth it. FWIW, I will be buying another car to drive so I don't end up stuck.

Exactly, I have a few other older cars I drive around to and from school/work, daily driving.. The eclipse could be daily driven if I wanted to stop upgrading shit all the time, but I like working on it almost more than driving it... Durring the summers when it is nice for weeks I drive it all the time, but I dont drive in weather conditions or anything unless I get stuck out in it... You could daily drive a stage V setup, much more than that and you wont be able to though, trying to run the 25g will be pushing it, cams usually wont idle very smooth, messing with tb and intake manifold will cause rougher idle, etc...
