I am thinking about a purchace of a car, a 1991 Eclipse GSX, now the turbo is reported blown, but the car is still driveable, the guy says he disconnected it, dont ask me how, and is still havung the oil run through the turbo, he states that the car does burn some oil due to this, he is only asking $1000 for the car and ill tell ya it has every option availible for the year, it has 170000 miles on it already, how much more could i expect, could the way he is running it now have caused greater damage, i know i can get a new turbo for $600 but is it worth all the trouble, after all i am carless right now.

Well there are better deals out there...you can find a good 1st gen turbo DSM for 2-3 thousand with a good condition engine, and you will be better off than having a 170k mile car that has been running incorrectly for who knows how long on broken parts.

I loved my 1G to death and $1000 is nothing for the car with the blown turbo. Just to purchase a decent 1G turbo engine costs $2000+ I would buy it and save $1500 for a complete rebuild. The you're starting at ZERO mileage again.
BTW I stand behind my offer if you don't want it I'd get it in a second. Depends on where it's located. Email me. Skrilla@home.com
