How hard is it to install the kit for someone (maybe with some frineds help)that knows how to change their oil, plugs, etc......???? I know someone that can install it for 400 bucks and that includes dyno time with wideband o2 monitoring, to ensure that the setup is safe. I ain't got jack shit for tools either, just some wrenches, sockets, and a few screwdrivers. Also my knowledge of a tubro is probably a 3 in a scale of 1-5. I'm still learning. I'm probaby gonna get that 'Maximum Boost' book by Corky Bell. Oh yeah, 'how' good are the HRC instructions? Thanks.

HRC instructions are excellent, someone on this board has them scanned, as far as the 400 bucks for install and dyno, that to me sounds like a pretty good deal, it might cost you 1-200 just on dyno runs alone to dial everything in right,
Make sure the shop has worked on 4cyl or even 420a would be even better, some shops claim to have great knowledge about turbos and still muck it up.

Remove exhaust manifold, hacksaw downpipe, drill oil return fitting into oilpan, rewire fuel lines & add pump, solder on FCD, and tighten a lot of hose clamps. Not much to it.

yes do it yourself. the hardest part for me was to get that damn oil feed fitting on the back to screw on. i just couldn't get it started.

I agree. Do it yourself. Even though I haven't gotten off of my lazy ass to install my own kit, I've been studying the Hahn manual for a while now. I know exactly where ever nuts and bolt is suppose to go.

Hopefully Dan and I can gather some pictures this weekend while workign on Mitsuman's turbo install to clarify some.

The guy that might be doing the install is a well respected mechanic and tuner here in Tampa. He's been turbo'ing a lotta people's cars now and those peeps actually recommended him. He said I can even watch close-hand during the install so that I'll learn, so long as I don't get in the way. Thanks for the replies. Like he said, 400 bucks including dyno tuning time.

Thanks...damn i didnt realize there were so many DSM sites on the web. Anyway thanks for the reply. Ill definitely keep you in mind after i save up the insane amount of money i will be needing. I find it easy. It is all relative to what you know. To be honest, if you are uncomfortable doing the work yourself, and you trust the individual in question to be very competent, $400 with dyno tuning is a hell of a deal and worth it. That is WAY cheaper than you would get anywhere else. In fact, I suspect he has not done one before or he would know it is more than a $400 job.

Yup 400 installed with dyno tuning is an awesome deal. Dyno tuning alone (if done by a professional) is around 125 an hour. If he spends a couple hours on your car, it will already be worth it. And the install labor is typically around 700 to 1000 dollars depending on where you go...
