okay i have a question for anyone who has one of these. it appears that this unit comes with a boost timing unit. what else do i need to put this thing in my car. i found it for like 450, i was also looking into the crane ignition, but if i buy everything for the crane including the boost retard unit it turns out to be around the same price. someone please correct me if i am wrong thanks james

What does that three bar MAP sensor do? I have the DIS-2 and the Tach adapter. Where did you get it at? Does it just replace the map sensor in our engine? Thanks man...

the 6212 is sweet:-) With the crane you have to but the extra retard switch, but not on the msd, since it build in. All you need is the map sensor which is bacically a box that the msd plugs into and so dose a vac line so the msd can see boost. then you use your pc to sinc up with the msd and you can set any amount of retard points per psi or rpm.

what is the 3 bar map sensor? i know its a map sensor but what does the 3 bar mean? i honestly was thinking about getting the crane HI-6DI2 with all the other crap but right now all i need to retard is about 4 degrees for now.... also when you hook it up to a pc to adjust the timing, is it pretty hard or is it simple to follow?... also how much bigger is the 6212 then the normal dis2? thanks Michael 99gs- hrc stage 2

3 bar map sensor is a sensor that contains within its voltage range an ability to read up to 3 bars of boost. A bar of boost is equal to 14.7 psi. Multiply that times 3 and you get close to 45 psi. Therefore, a 3 bar map sensor can read within its voltage range close to 45 psi of boost. (Is that enough? )

*cough* Not quite.
a 3 bar map sensor can read roughly 30PSI. You forget that the first bar of it's range is for vacuum.

i had a couple questions of the way of retarding on the 6212... i just opened up the program for the 6212 and i was wondering you either can retard timing by rpm or by boost pressure right? the run retard curve is just by rpm which is sorta like the normal dis2 but on here you got a grap and and which is so cool hehe ... the rpm meter to the left bottom that is where you can retard** degrees according to boost and rpm or just one?...i was thinking about retarding 4-5 degrees from 4-7thou rpm or and say retard 4 degrees 6-9psi for now could i do both or just one? and also could you retard 4 degree from 6-9psi only? or will it start to retard once i hit boost till ** degree are reached? ... yesterday on my way to work i was looking at around when i hit 4,000rpm and below 5psi i only got up to 3500 ( auto ) i could not boost higher because traffic dang it ... also on the rpm meter with psi etc what is cylinder 1-8 the order it fires? could you explain a bit more? what i want to do personally is retard 4 degrees from 4-7000rpm and or 6-9psi in boost.... both? also this may sound stupid but the 6212 is not programmed for anything till you do it yourself with a pc so i can drive around without programming it right away? thanks for my confusing post... cool Michael 99gs- hrc stage 2

i think if you set the rpm bases retard for 4-5 deg at 4-7k rpms and set the boost one you end up getting 8-10deg of retard. So i'd just go with one or the other. The rpm and psi gauges at the bottom left i beleve are for monitoring the dis while you running the car to see when retard, boost, and indavidual cylinder timing are happening. The dis dose come preprogramed, for a 4cylinder car, just the rev limits are set way to high
