Just thought I would share this with you guys, it was very impressive in my eyes. A Prelude with a Jackson Racing supercharger with the 9psi pulley, and bot ons. Not as much power HP as turbo, but has lots of torque. I have seen some movies of this guys Lude, and the his revs are tons faster than normal, 1st gear is gone in a second. This guy could probably see mid, maybe low 13's on radials and a good launch. Want to see the movies? http://preludeonline.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30085

95 Eclipse gone, meet the Lude. Now driving 97 Honda Prelude. Fast, but a few mods wouldnt hurt. How about a Cold Air Intake for starters...

Stock 420A would be making 30+ more ft/lbs of torque than that at the same boost level..

Thats highly unlikely, but I will agree most Turbo setups will produce more HP than the JRSC will. I think the DRAG turbo setup on the Lude puts out about 280whp and about 200lbs or torque at 9psi, and will propel the Lude into the 13's. I would have to see a dyno to bleive that the 420a will produce more toque, cause inorder to do so, it would have to produce over 100% more torque than stock at 9psi. Turbo is great for massive power gains, but it comes at the cost or constant tuning, where as the JRSC is much more reliable and can produce some impressive gains. A JRSC Lude with radials at 9psi is gonna run mid to low 13's, a 420a with the HRC running at 9psi is gonna run high 13's, isnt that about right? You guys are lucky to have HRC, us Lude owners have F-max, but the kits runs a minimum of 3500. A good option for Lude owners is the JRSC, running at 6psi would make anyones Lude a force to be recconed with.

That setup in a Honda CRX stripped would probably result in a 10 second car, considering they run 11's without the SC after teh H22 swap. Cant wait to get my SC, got ponies to kill.

Thats not bad at all, but it is on a 5.0 with 11lbs of boost. Is that yours? If so, it must be hella fast. The graph I showed was more impressive I think, a 2.2 with i/h/e, JRSC at 9lbs of boost making 260whp, only 110hp less than a car with more than twice the displacement, and more boost. Both put up impressive numbers though, but will point out that the 2.2 is making 118hp per liter, and the 5.0 is making 75hp per liter. I know which one I think is more impressive.

No..I wish it was mine..fellow Corraler actually. Stock my car puts out around 190hp and 260ft lbs I believe. So that lude with a SC would be quick. Right now I should have about 210 at the wheels at least, maybe more. I am planning on geting it dynoed to have a baseline. The 75HP shot is worth about 65 or so HP and over 120 ft lbs torque at the wheels so I can't wait. That is a good gain from just a SC basically on a 5.0. With heads, cam intake it would be over 400 easy. With a Kenne Bell like my friend has you get around 320HP and close to 400FT lbs at wheels on a ALL stock car with 9 lbs of boost, feels awesome! He ran 12.9@108 so far..this year with heads and such..low 12's high 11's. They are nice SC's for street but not as good as the centrifugals at peak power output. And turbo's can get even more...all depends on what you wnat out of it and your goals I guess.

here's my friend's prelude stock internal 130k miles and 6psi, not bad consider the stock motor only has 160hp(h23a non-vtec).

Are you sure about that HP number of yours? I think it would be higher, no? Dont the 5.0's run high 13's? Turbo's are hands down the best way to go if you are going all out, but for people that dont want to have a monthly tuning issue, and want to have a fast streetable ride, a SC may be a better option. I dont know if its true for all SC's, but I know that if you run 40shots on top of a JRSC, you tend to get a 75whp gain, because it cools things down. So even though it may be extremely hard to get more than 300whp from a JRSC, add some nitrous and you can get over 400whp real quick. I talked to a guy last night that just bought a 95GT, it was sweet. I dont usually like Stangs, but his had seats that can go up and down, now thats sweet. Plus it looked nice, had nice interior, its a 5.0, and teh guy was real cool. I had to explain to him that his car runs better than high 15's, he was auto, so I estimated him in the low 14's. It was nice. I may be all about imports, but when it comes down to it, you just have to respect that American muscle, its so easy to make a Stang or Z28 into a low 12 second car, its not so easy for us imports.

Horsepower has nothing to do with it.. it's all about the torque. This is why i didn't find anything impressive in the syno you posted on the Lude, even though it made good horsepower, the torque output was low.

Actually if his 95 GT is auto it proabably does run 15's. They are heavier than the earlier stangs. It depends on his rearend gear ratio too. Auto's were available with 3.27's optional versus the 2.73's that are standard. There is a at least 3 tenths difference form the better 3.27's. I had 2.73's in my 89 Auto 5.0 LX and my 88 5spd LX 5.0,good top end and lowsy take off. I could get 60 mph out of 1st with the auto and not get out of 2nd in the 1/4!! The 5spd has lower gearing that makes a huge difference, usually 6 tenths faster than an auto, part of reason I switched mine over. If his car has different gears in it than stock it should be quick. My old 89 LX 5.0 dropped a whole second from just gears! Went from 15.54 to 14.5 with 4.10's and that is with a worn out AOD that shifted slow. My car should be at 14.2-13.9 wit the mods I have. It has more to do with the overall power curve than actual peak numbers. The area under the curve tells the whole story. Light weight with lots of torque make them fast. A bone stock LX 5.0 coupe 5 spd can run 14.0s dead stock with a good driver and with a few mods be in the 13's. They are a couple hundred pounds lighter than the GT's though. The best mod for a mustang is gears, that makes a huge difference.

You are crazy man, thats a great Torque number for a 4cylinder. I dont know what your basing your opinion on, but I have never seen a 420a with lots of toque. Toque comes from big displacement, like Stangs and Z28's have, we dont have lots of displacement. I dont know why you think Toque is all that matters, Toque is good for pulling heavy loads, but Sport Compacts are gonna rely on HP more so than Torque to make them go fast. Not saying that a good torque number means nothing, but if it was the main thing, you would never see a Honda Civic break into the 9's, cause theyre torque numbers arent usually all that impressive. Your comment about the 420a Turbo having more toque, show me a dyno. There is no way that a 420a with less than 12lbs of boost is gonna have over 220lbs of torque. Its a good number, dont downplay it for no reason.

hp can get you good quarter mile times, but torque is where most of the fun is at, I think that's Dino's point. Also, I'm pretty sure crx's with prelude motors aren't very streetable from what i've heard

Off topic, but why do dyno's get cut off like that? Notice the gap in the hp plot? A couple of my dyno runs were like that too.

Thats a very good torque number, but its at 12psi, 3psi more than the JRSC Lude. Keep in mind, teh JRSC is a supercharger, and the blower on the SC is about the equivilant of a T3 turbo in size, pretty small. The JRSC is not gonna keep up with Turbo systems without the help of some nitrous. Add 60shots of juice on top of the JRSC, you will end up with about 400whp, and 320lbs of toque. Toque is what gives off the sence of power, but HP is what wins the race. I think all dyno's posted so far have been impressive.

Thats a very good gain for a V6 mustang. As for you Kory, that number is very possible for a H22 Prelude, I dont see why you said what you said. Go over to honda-tech or preludeonline.com, you will see a handful of people putting out over 400hp with a similar amount of boost. You seem to think that DSM's are the only cars good for power and 1/4 mile times. I think you need to race some of the 11 sec Civics and Tegs from honda-tech, cause as it stands, you think that you are invincible for whatever reason.

95 Eclipse gone, meet the Lude. Now driving 97 Honda Prelude. Fast, but a few mods wouldnt hurt. How about a Cold Air Intake for starters...

Thats just sick man, it wouldnt matter that it weighs about 3500lbs, cause that thing has the power to just about kill anything in its path. Good dyno man, very impressive.

Pretty good for a stock engine with a SC. Imagine with a built engine. I have more but I only wanted toss in bolt on dyno's. I got some sick all motor dynos too. I wish I had some damn $$!! I would do heads, cam, intake, and a SC. Someday.

I saw him up at nopi after he dynoed a week or so ago :-p. seemed to be pretty happy. that is very impressive for a supercharger on a prelude. most of the supercharged preludes that have gone through engineered have pulled in the 220-230 range.
