im gonna install my star stage 1 on sat. should i have the egt probe welded into the exhaust manifold before i put i on the car? just worried about shaving ect. getting sucked through my engine...

You don't need to weld the probe in there. Actually I probably wouldn't recommend it.Just removce the manifold and tap it to the cyl. closest to the driver's side (I believe #4). Welding it could mess up the probe, depending on what the welder is set at. I tapped mine in about 30 min while drinking a beer and watching a little football.

Drill the hole with the engine running. This will blow any shaving back out of the manifold.

Tapping the hole does not produce metal fragments of great enough density or volume to do any damage whatsoever to the exhaust side of your turbine. it will all just blow out the tailpipe.
