can i remove the crank when the block is in the car without removing the tranny, when i remove the bedplate does the crank slide outta the tranny or do i got to do something else to get it out. thanks james

The oil pump is powered directly by the crank (which is attached to the block itself) as is the timing belt crank pulley.
And without removing the tranny? Jeez.. Why make it that much harder on yourself? It may be possible, but the pain-in-the-ass factor would make it quicker and easier to just drop the tranny rather than find a huge and likely futile work-around.
Just take the motor out. It's easier..
