i was looking at the difference in price between the HRC stage 1 and HRC stage 2(about700 bucks) and i noticed that all you really get extra is the intercooler, because u could by a boost controller to up the boost if u wanted to. i could get a used intercooler, like a starion IC or used Greddy for a lot less than 700 bucks. there is an exhaust shop here that have had a lot of work done at, and he makes custom pipeing all the time for cars. would it be possible to buy an intercooler and have the pipeing bent for it at the shop? how does the pipe connect to the IC, is it welded or just pipe-clamped? thanks a lot for any info or suggestions/opinions.

Go down to the "starion IC question" thread farther down in the turbo discussion. They're links and everything you need to know. Thats what MANY of us plan to do. I dont' plan on spending more than $300 tops on the whole set up.
i read that thread. if i used the starion intercooler, and had pipeing made for it, how does it attach to the intercooler? does it just clamp? also, what kinda BOV can be used? if its custom intercooler pipeing, they will have to make a place for the BOV right? with running 13-15 psi, would this intercooler be ok? thanks a lot.

I ordered the stage one with a BOV so I'll either take the flange from there or weld that section of piping to what I'm using. Yes it clamps to the intercooler. You may want to bead the end of the pipe so it wont come loose (I also read putting in one screw). I dont see why it shouldn't be good for 13-15psi considering the size and location.
