#16041, "Boost Controller?"

I am currently running 4lbs of boost on my Star Stage 2. I have a 98 RS automatic, and was wondering if a boost controller was necessary to up the boost. If it is which one would you guys recommend?

Yes, inorder to increase boost, you WILL need a boost controller. I have the greddy profec B and ive had nothing but problems with it. Im actually sending it back soon to be repaired. Get the boost controller that best suits your needs. Read up on them, check them out.

Toykilla, what kind of problems have you experienced with the Profec B, because I was going to buy that soon? Electronic or user-friendly problems?

If you do get the turboxs, spend the money and get the high performance one.If your gonna go EBC,go all out w/ an AVCR or Blitz SBC-ID.I had the profecb and it worked fine.I didn't think it was worth 300 bucks though. You'll probably get the same kicks outta the TXS HPBC.

It doesnt work. It doesn regulate my boost. It did when I first got it then about 2 weeks later it stopped. I tugged on the wires and it worked again. I then thought it was a ground problem and grounded it to chassis and it worked for about 4 days. I got exhaust leak, my car sat for a month while I was waiting for parts and fixing it. Started it up, everything ran awesome but I was only running 5psi. Damn boost controller stopped working again. Im sending the damn thing back, If NOPI will let me get another one, I will but I dont think they will.

I have never had problem 1 with my profec b, its worked without a hitch. Check your install throughly, the smallest factors can get electronics out of wack. My only complaint would be that I cant hit 30psi with it, but i just got new exhaust and other work done, so maby when its back together this time... but yeah, i like the greddy profec b, now, the profec a is a different story, i have had probs and heard of probs w/ them
