#15671, "how often do u turbo guys change oil?"

I figure every 3000 miles wont cut it. Not only did I add a quart after after 1500 miles but Im about to change oil completely some around 2500-2700 miles. How often does everyone in hear change oil?

mobil 1 synthetic ever 3 thousand, but the first load i put in after i installed the turbo, i was leaking so much that i actually put in about 13 quarts in 3000 miles. now its back to normal. the way i do it is, once i see the meter hit 2500, i change it at my first convenience, which usually ends up being around 3K...oh well

if you're adding oil in before an oil change.. then for some reason, you're burning more oil then you should be... maybe a broken seal somewhere?

check your sparkplugs, any oil on them?

I dunno what else could be wrong, maybe someone else can help.

Cyan.... was your oil leaking from breather? I really hope my case is the same as yours cause I cant handle this shit w/ all this leaking oil. My friend is trying to sell me his GST or TSI now and said ditch my car. I aint giving up yet but I have had a new problem every month and Im tired of dumping $ into a POS that had a horrible fucking dyno etc. Im checking spark plugs in morning and friend is telling me I might of fried rings or something. How the fuck can my car not handle 8.5psi when I got a holley fuel pump, 370cc injectors, and an AFC and its tuned? People in here run that w/o anything I got I got 2000 miles on this oil so Ill try to change it tomorrow but is it worth it if its just gonna keep on leaking? Can I block off breather or get rid of it somehow so oil cant come out? . what the hell

Castrol SynTek was rated the best oil on the market by some digest magazine. Its the only oil in the world to pass all 3 of the test's they do on them I heard. Dont quote me on that though.

I last used Castrol Full Synthetic oil 5w-50 (bwahahah how's that for multi-viscosity!) mainly for winter and I was going to race at Buttonwillow. I'm planning on changing it at 3500 or 3000 miles and switching back to regular Castrol 10w-40 since it's gonna be warming up soon. Synthetic just costs too much for me. It's like I were taking my car to a Jiffylube but getting better oil.... emoji Hehe I have an oil cooler also so that should help the oil life out a bit.

When I autocross a lot I can blow about a quart or oil out of my breather or just when I go hot rod my car. I got some oil leaks also.... emoji (Gasp all that syntetic oil dripping out of my car NOOOO) I hate the bottle they put synthetic oil in, you can't use a spout with it. emoji

try to change every 2500 miles, never more than 3000 miles tho.

Mobil 1 15w-30 with purolator pure one filters. use a slightly heavier weight since ive gone turbo (use to use 10w-30). ive read that this is a good idea on turbo cars, since heat is what breaks down oil, and the oil sees much higher temps sinces its circulated thru a turbo, and the slighlty higher weight helps avoid oil break down and prolong oil life.

plus i dont have to worry about cold start-ups since im in florida like the guys who have to use 5w in the winters up north do emoji
