#15623, "Accel 30LB injectors and Vortech 6:1 kick butt"

I installed my injectors last night and drove the car with the original 12:1 fmu disc. The ecu learned the injectors just fine and idle and vacume driving is great. I even have better throttle response for some reason. At 6psi boost, car ran fine, but would not get over 1450 egt in a 7K 3rd gear pull. The car also felt slower.

No lugging or engine problems, just less power and lower egt.

Put in the 6:1 disc/ring from the recal kit. Damn....my power is back and plus a few ponies. The highest I can get my egt is 1610 at 7K 3rd gear pull. The car pulls so much better that I can feel the difference(no joke). I highly recommend doing this, because before the upgrade, I could easily hit 1700 at 7K 3rd if I was not careful. It was a 30F night that I did the tests. I do have a cold air pipe on my star stage 1 kit.

Remember this is for the Star Kit, with the high flow 255 intake pump.

Thanks for the advice guys!

1997 RS, I use the stock fuel pressure regulator(rated 47 psi I believe) and the vortech fmu.

I have not put a fuel pressure gage in. When it is cold it idles a bit choppy until about 600F egt. Then she runs pretty smooth.

Have you thought about bumping up your idle a bit to keep it running. 750-800 rpm should do it. I am idling at 600-650 without the fan on or any other accesories that draw a bunch of power.

I also have my plugs gapped to .035 BKR7E11. Good wires and no other ignition assist(stock).

Let me know how it turns out.

No, the star kit does not come with a recalibration kit. You can get it from vortechsuperchargers.com/accessories. Or if you try to order from wyatt, he might be able to customize it for you (if he's even still selling them).
