#15476, "open exhaust?"

any down sides to running no exhaust besides the sound factor? would it heat up the bottom of the car too much? i just read a post and 'spooling at idle' or there abouts sounds like a good enought trade off for me. there are some loudass cars here so i don't think i'd get a ticket. that and it'll give me something to do tomorrow.

that was me I think your reffering to. when my turbo was installed I had an open downpipe cause the old flange was rusted onto the cat so I drove around with a V-8 supercharged sounding Eclipse. It spooled at idle but its kinda hard to hear since the car in general was so damn loud. My friend dsmnt96 wants to do it but Im sure its a huge waste in gas and probably wouldn't help performance at all. I had it for less then a day so I cant say much. It was fun while it lasted though.

easy rule to remember - the best exhaust for a turbo to make power is NO exhaust.

Trade off is noise and bottom end, but it spools quicker and you get a lot better flow on top end. I am happy with my exhaust and I am sure everyone in my neighborhood is too. :p

so would the lack of low end power before the turbo actually spools cancle out it's increased power afterwards? or would it still be better performance wise to go w/o an exhaust. like i said before, this is based purely on a performance level, not considering the sound factor.
