i hope this isn't a stupid question. but anyways i was wanting to get a 3" exhaust and not put a muffler on it. i don't know if the shop will do it yet but its worth a try to ask. my actaul question is how would it sound? i can't have it to loud becuase i don't want the cops to pull me over and give me a ticket. or should i just put muffler on it and fork out the extra dough. does it sound like a V8 car or like a V8 truck?

Some shops will do it, some wont... My shop I have do all my piping will do whatever I want... I got a 3'' downpipe, and 4'' straight back exhaust... no resonators, no cat, no muffler.... I have a turbo, so it quiets it down a little, but not really... she screams in top end... Might want to get a muffler atleast if you daily drive the car.. and make sure that 3'' is mandrel bent.. Check out local laws also, I registered in a diff county so I dont have to pass vet tests, or have a cat or muffler...

I got a custom 3 inch exhuast. Muffler shop made me one for 3". Full 3 inch system from downpipe down. Gahaha you want it to be 3" and have no muffler and not wanna attract cops? That' not possible unless you have like hella glasspacks. When I first had the exhuast put on it was LOUD stuff vibrated in the car and it sounds badass really deap. What I did was bought a magnacore 3" inlet/outlet muffler, 3" glasspack, and 3 inch cat. Had the shop install it, he even got it to bend over the crossmember by rolling my trunk. Thought that's not the straightest pipe though. Plus if you have a muffler shop do it they'll crushbend the pip which is not so good. I notice on my exhuast when it bends a lot the piping gets thinner. So having it go under the crossmember is probably better for performance. As long as you don't bend too much it's ok, crushbending is ok. Cost me 400 bux roughly to get all the stuff and installation which is about how much a good aftermarket catback is. Not a bad deal considering it is a full (not fake gahaha) 3inch systen from the downpipe to the muffler. Bad thing is that I had to get rid of my catelope shooter tip, you can't get a muffler that's too long 14 inch long muffler or less. You can find one, the magnaflow I have it like 14 or 13. Gahaha the piping is badass looking too when I looks at a bus or a big deisal truck I laugh because the piping is as big as mine.

here's the link to my exhuast album if you wanna see everything.

N1's are a straight through design prety much... and they look sweet kacked sideways and up on an eclipse... and yeah, go under the cross member for sure, the less bends the better, a lot better... using pure mandrel bends is recommended... crushbend is restrictive, mandrel bends throughout will make a difference... no muff is not undo-able... I dont have one, straight piping, pretty damn mean and loud, but i have never had a run in with a cop for it..
